303257\n\nResponsibilities:\nPrimary Plant Engineering\nPrepare and develop scope of works, technical specifications and engineering requirements for transmission substation plant equipment.\nProvide engineering support across a range of primary plant equipment including AIS and GIS switchgear, transformers, reactors, FACTS equipment, grid stabilisation technologies and associated substation systems.\nReview contractor and consultant designs during project development and delivery phases.\nAssess technical compliance against project specifications, standards and client requirements.\nSupport the management of technical queries, engineering deviations and design changes.\nWork collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to ensure successful delivery of integrated substation designs.\nDesign Assurance and Technical Review\nReview and provide technical approval recommendations for contractor design deliverables.\nAttend and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and review resulting documentation.\nSupport engineering assurance activities throughout procurement, manufacture, installation and commissioning phases.\nIdentify technical risks and support development of practical engineering solutions.\nPromote best practice, innovation and continuous improvement within the electrical plant discipline.\nSupport the Technical Authority process through design reviews and technical assessments.\nSafety and Risk Management\nApply Safety by Design principles throughout all project phases.\nSupport compliance with CDM Regulations and design risk management processes.\nParticipate in engineering risk reviews, HAZID, HAZOP and other project assurance activities as required.\nEnsure engineering and operational risks are identified, assessed and appropriately mitigated.\nSupport the production and maintenance of engineering risk documentation and design records.\nStakeholder Management\nDevelop and maintain productive working relationships with project teams, contractors, consultants, manufacturers and operational stakeholders.\nLiaise with engineers from Civil, Cable, Protection & Control and Building Services disciplines.\nSupport efficient coordination between engineering disciplines to achieve project objectives.\nCommunicate technical issues, risks and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nSite and Manufacturing Support\nSupport installation, testing and commissioning activities where required.\nAttend UK and international manufacturing facilities and project sites as necessary.\nProvide technical support during issue resolution and defect management activities.\nAssist site and operational teams to ensure quality installations and minimise risks to network security.\nRequirements:\nBusiness Knowledge\nGood understanding of the GB transmission network and substation infrastructure.\nAwareness of interfaces between Plant, Civil, Cable, Protection & Control and Building Services disciplines.\nUnderstanding of transmission asset lifecycles and capital project delivery.\nAppreciation of transmission owner obligations and regulatory requirements.\nUnderstanding of engineering governance and project delivery processes.\nEssential Functional/Technical Skills\nDemonstrable experience in transmission-level primary plant engineering, ideally up to 400kV.\nExperience in one or more of the following areas:\no Design\noManufacture o Factory Acceptance Testing o Installation o Commissioning o Asset Management\nTechnical understanding of AIS and GIS switchgear, transformers, reactors and associated substation equipment.\nKnowledge of relevant British and International standards.\nUnderstanding of relevant legislation including CDM Regulations and ESQCR.\nAbility to review technical documentation and provide clear engineering feedback.\nDegree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.\nChartered Engineer status or progression towards professional registration is desirable.\nCompetencies\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to identify and prioritise critical engineering issues.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work independently whilst contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.\nStrong stakeholder engagement and
