It combines a strong foundation in data protection law with broader advisory responsibilities across data governance, information security, AI and emerging technologies.\nYou will work closely with stakeholders across the business, particularly technology, information security and data teams, to support the responsible and effective use of data.\nKey responsibilities\nProvide legal advice on data protection, data governance and the use of data across the organisation.\nWork closely with information security, technology and data teams on legal and regulatory matters.\nAdvise on data ownership, access, sharing, retention and governance.\nSupport the development and implementation of data governance frameworks and policies.\nProvide legal guidance on AI, emerging technologies and data-driven initiatives.\nAdvise on international data transfers, data incidents and associated regulatory obligations.\nHelp stakeholders navigate complex legal questions concerning the management and use of data.\nAbout you\nQualified lawyer with significant experience in data protection and broader data law.\nStrong understanding of UK GDPR and the wider data regulatory landscape.\nExperience advising on data governance, information security and data management issues.\nKnowledge of, or a strong interest in, AI and emerging technologies.\nComfortable working with technical stakeholders and translating complex legal requirements into practical advice.\nStrong communication, judgement and stakeholder-management skills.\nExperience supporting data governance programmes, information security initiatives or AI-related projects would be advantageous.\nThe role\nThis opportunity would suit a lawyer looking to move beyond traditional privacy advisory work into a broader data law position, working at the intersection of legal, data governance, information security and technology.\nPlease note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide.
