The role is responsible forleading and developing audit professionals, managing internal and external resources, and building trusted relationships with stakeholders across the organization.\nThis position requires strong business judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability totranslate business, operational, financial, compliance,and technology risks into clear insights and practical recommendationsthat support effective governance, risk management, and control processes.The successful candidate will also contribute to the continued evolution of Internal Audit through innovation, data analytics, automation, and the responsible use of approved AI-enabled tools.\nWhat You’ll Do\nManage a portfolio of complex, risk-based assuranceand advisory engagementsthroughout the audit lifecycle, including planning, execution, reporting, follow-up, and review of key audit deliverables\n\nApply critical thinking, professionaljudgment, and business knowledge to identifyroot causes and develop practicalrecommendationsthat address underlying risks\n\nLeadand develop audit professionalsby setting clearexpectations, allocatingwork, providing feedback and coaching, supporting career development, and fostering accountability and collaboration\n\nManage internal resources, co-sourced service providers, consultants, and subject matter experts to support effective audit delivery\n\nSupport the development and execution of the annual risk-based audit plan by assessing emerging risks, business priorities, organizational changes,and resource requirements\n\nPartner with management to communicate insights, agree on practical corrective actions, and monitor progress in addressing audit recommendations\n\nBuild trusted relationships with stakeholders by providingobjectiveand constructive advice on governance, risk management, and internal controlswhile maintainingan independent assurance perspective\n\nChampion continuous improvement by testing new ideasand leveragingdata analytics, automation, and approved AI-enabled tools to modernize Internal Audit practices\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, business, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience\n\nProfessional designation such as CIA, CPA, or an equivalent recognized credential\n\nAt least 10 years of progressive internal audit or closely related risk and assurance experience, including at least three years leading teams or complex engagements\n\nDemonstrated ability to plan, execute, and deliver multiple complex engagements on time while applying sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and develop practical recommendations\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise reports, deliver effective presentations, and facilitateconstructive discussions with stakeholders at all levels\n\nProven people leadership skills and a commitment to coaching, inclusion, collaboration, and accountability\n\nIntellectual curiosity, openness to new ideas, and a continuous learning mindset, with the adaptability to lead effectively in a changing environment\n\nWorking proficiencywith digital productivity, data analytics, and AI-enabled tools, together with the judgment to use them responsibly, securely, and with appropriate validationand human oversight\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nOperational auditor similar experience in the pipeline, energy, or other complex asset-intensive industry\n\nStrong knowledge and practical application of the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Global Internal Audit Standards and modern risk-based audit methodologies\n\nExperience establishingor enhancing an internal audit quality assurance and improvement program\n\nAdvanced capability with audit management software, data visualization, process mining, automation, or other analytics tools\n\nExperience identifyingand implementing practical AI use cases within audit, risk, or assurance functions\n\nAbility to communicate effectively in Spanish is considered an asset\n\nTo remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid\nAbout our business\nWe are a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
