Connect to what matters.\nThe Opportunity\nThe Mainline Operations Engineering team is seeking a Compression Operations Engineer to provide engineering support to enable the safe and reliable operation of natural gas compressor station facilities.\nThe Engineer will be assigned a defined geographic area and will support compressor station assets within that area, as well as contribute to systemwide operational initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work within a high performing, multidisciplinary team and to collaborate closely with experienced engineers, field specialists, and commercial operations personnel.\nThis position provides a unique opportunity for hands-on field engagement, supporting day-to-day compressor station operations while developing a strong foundation in safety, operational excellence, and technical execution. The experience is designed to support the growth of well-rounded engineers who bring practical insight, sound technical fundamentals, and a strong commitment to safe and reliable operations.\nWhat you'll do\nPerform data gathering and engineering analyses to support issue resolution, facility health assessments, root cause investigations, and risk assessments, with appropriate technical oversight as required.\nProvide field-based operational troubleshooting support for new and ongoing issues, including site visits and collaboration with senior reliability specialists and engineers.\nAnalyze operational and engineering data to identify underperforming assets, systemic issues, and opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance practices.\nFacilitate operational decision-making risk assessments for compression facilities.\nSupport the development and execution of treatment plans focused on reducing asset-level and system-wide risk.\nConduct alternatives analysis and provide technical scoping recommendations, along with operational support for capital and expense projects, to ensure risks and proposed solutions within annual programs are effectively mitigated.\nDrive Management of Change (MOC) development and implementation, including contributing to engineering design activities under appropriate technical oversight.\nAssist in the development, review, and updating of TC Energy maintenance and operating procedures. \nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. \nRegistered, or eligible to register, with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) in good standing\n1 - 3 years of progressive relevant engineering experience.\nPreferred Qualifications\nBroad engineering expertise.\nStrong troubleshooting skills, including familiarity with natural gas transmission and compression facilities.\nExperience with failure investigations, root cause determination and interpretation of damage mechanisms.\nFamiliarity with industry norms and standards related to equipment reliability, safety, and risk management.\nPrevious experience supporting or developing maintenance processes and systems.\nStrong time-management skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.\nExcellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with external partners.\nDemonstrated ability to initiate change and support others in adapting to a dynamic and evolving work environment.\nProven capability to develop and implement technical solutions to complex and ambiguous problems.\nExperience applying engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issues and recommend effective improvements.\nThis position requires candidates to:\nHave and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review\nStay away from home overnight which will include staying in hotels or equivalent (~30% of the time)\nTo remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid\nAbout our business\nWe are a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
