This role offers the opportunity to work on scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that underpin TD’s customer data and regulatory compliance platforms\nWe are seeking a skilled Mainframe Software Engineer II with experience in Host/Mainframe technology. This ideal candidate will have strong development skills and experience working in Host environments. You will play a key role designing, developing, and optimizing Party1 applications while ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership within POD.\nKEY ACCOUNTABILITIE S\nConduct deep-dive analysis of host applications to identify business needs, impacts, dependencies, and solution options.\nAnalyze existing mainframe applications and architecture to determine impacts, dependencies, risks, and solution options.\nCollaborate with business, architecture, engineering, and delivery teams (PODs) to translate requirements into well-documented technical designs.\nProduce design documentation, technical specifications, solution recommendations, and implementation approaches.\nParticipate in effort estimation and impact assessments to support planning and delivery commitments.\nServe as a subject matter expert for host applications, particularly with COBOL, IMS, DB2 and related host platforms.\nLead end-to-end solution design activities, ensuring alignment with TD's internal policies, security, and standards.\nPerform technical investigations, root cause analysis, and research of existing host applications to support modernization and enhancement efforts.\nPartner with development teams to guide implementation, review technical solutions, and ensure alignment with design, while remaining hands-on with system analysis and research activities.\nSupport API integration initiatives between distributed and host systems, including REST-based services.\nEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE\nUndergraduate degree, Post Graduate degree or Technical Certificate in Computer engineering\n7+ years of experience in Mainframe technologies, including COBOL, IMS, DB2, z/OS, and Endevor.\nStrong expertise in IMS and DB2 database technologies\n7+ years of experience in application design, systems analysis, and end-to-end solution development and deployment.\nProven experience in architecture, technical design, and solution development for large-scale enterprise applications.\nStrong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies.\nHands-on experience with mainframe development tools, frameworks, and host ecosystem technologies.\nDemonstrated ability to research complex host applications, analyze legacy systems, and produce clear technical documentation and recommendations.\nExcellent problem-solving, analytical, and investigative skills with the ability to navigate large, complex systems.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical concepts and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExperience providing strong technical leadership to the Pod, along with mentoring, and knowledge transfer within the development Pods.\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.\nAbility to work independently, conduct technical analysis, perform impact analysis, and influence solution design and delivery decisions.\nExperience working with REST APIs and integrating distributed applications with host systems.\nNice To Have\nExperience in JAVA, REST API, Oracle, SQL Server Database\nKnowledge on Event Hub, Kafka or equivalent\nExperience with Azure cloud environments\nFamiliar with observability tools like Datadog\nExperience with Autosys for jobs scheduling\nExperience working on Banking Domain Projects\nAdditional Information\nInspire a positive work environment and help champion quality, innovation, teamwork, and service to the business\nLearn voraciously, stretch your thinking, share your knowledge, and educate others\nCultivate winning relationships by building trust with business and technology partners\nShare our commitment to productivity, effectiveness, and operational efficiency\nEmbrace change and witness amazing things happen - from the inside\nWho We Are:\nTD is one of the world's leading global financial institutions and is the fifth largest bank in North America by branches/stores.
