The role of Assistant Branch Manager reports directly to the Branch Manager and is one of the key leadership positions on the TD Wealth leadership team and an integral part of TD Bank’s strategy for TD PWM. As an Assistant Branch Manager, you will be expected to reflect TD’s leadership profile and make an impact, build for the future, inspire the will to win, work effectively in teams, live transparency, show excellent judgment and demonstrate unwavering integrity. This role is responsible for providing sales leadership, talent recruitment, effective partner relationships and the consistent delivery of a legendary client experience.

Job Description:

  • Recruit, develop, and lead high-performance teams through personal development planning, setting rational performance objectives, and providing feedback and performance assessments in a timely manner.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies to achieve business objectives and sales goals

  • Plan and execute business development activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly

  • Coach and develop employees to proactively identify client product and services needs and to deliver on the business sales, advice strategies and individual goals

  • Actively promote the TD Private Wealth Management image and brand within the community through participation and leadership in business groups, and related activities

  • Ensure necessary due diligence (i.e. accuracy of information) to support the accuracy of all client activities, i.e., Know Your Client, etc.

  • Ensure client needs are fully assessed and that referrals to other areas of TD Wealth are made smoothly and effectively

  • Effectively engage the organization to get things done, lead others through periods of complex change, and enhance TD’s brand.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of TD Wealth Management Advisory offering from the ground up together with the key levers within such offering that drive superior results.

  • Know & understand the competitive landscape, identify emerging industry trends across and recommend strategies to drive a competitive advantage.

  • Lead in the community, developing opportunities to grow the TD PWM franchise and increasing our profile in the local market.

  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts

  • Review and support Branch Managers in the development and execution of branch business plans.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead high-performance teams through personal development planning, setting rational performance objectives, and providing feedback and performance assessments in a timely manner.

  • Lead the evolution and delivery of legendary client experiences.

  • Actively promote the TD PWM brand profile within the region through participation and leadership in business and industry groups, and related activities including public speaking and media appearances.

  • Oversee and direct the negotiation and appropriate resolution of significant client issues, which may include liaising with internal and external ombudsmen, industry regulators, and participation in legal proceedings.

  • Provide ongoing leadership, counsel, and oversight on compliance-related matters to ensure conformity with evolving industry regulations, internal compliance, risk management, and audit policies and practices.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Bank’s internal risk management and audit policies and procedures and those defined by external entities including relevant banking authorities and industry regulators. Participate in crafting new policies and procedures for the business to meet new and evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Follow and ensure employees understand and apply bank operating policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Undergraduate university degree or related post-secondary education at a minimum

  • Currently registered with the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) as a Registered Representative and Supervisor

  • 7+ years of Wealth leadership experience, including branch and sales management.

  • A successful track record of recruiting, acquiring, growing and retaining top talent, promoting diversity, building partnerships, aligning enterprise capabilities and striving to raise the bar on continuous improvement.

  • A proven strategist, change agent and advocate with the ability to balance business realities, regulatory expectations and best practices to lead others in pursuit of opportunities.

  • A successful history of working in a large financial institution where success is achieved by collaborating with other business partners.

  • A clear understanding of the importance of collaboration across the organization to leverage peer groups.

  • Proven ability to provide a balanced approach and to stay resilient under pressure with the ability to operate in an evolving and sometimes ambiguous environment reflecting timely and decisive leadership.

  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills.
