Job Description

We are looking for a motivated Senior Java Developer (Engineer I) to join our Trading Risk Warehouse platform team within TD Securities. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and support of software solutions used by Risk Analysts, Front Office Traders, and Senior Executives.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to work with modern technologies and large-scale distributed systems while gaining exposure to capital markets, risk management, and enterprise data platforms. The ideal candidate is a strong team player who is eager to learn, solve complex technical problems, and contribute to high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and efficient applications on distributed computing platforms.

  • Build, enhance, and support data processing pipelines, REST APIs, and web-based applications.

  • Participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions.

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing activities.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues under guidance from senior team members.

  • Contribute to code reviews and follow established coding standards and best practices.

  • Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve application performance, automation, and software quality.

  • Collaborate effectively with business analysts, project managers, architects, and global technology teams.

  • Learn and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices.

  • Experience developing data processing pipelines using Spark, Scala, or Python.

  • Experience working with Cassandra or other NoSQL databases.

  • Familiarity with relational databases and strong SQL skills.

  • Experience building or consuming REST APIs.

  • Working knowledge of Spring Boot and microservices architecture.

  • Experience using Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Maven, or similar technologies.

  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.

  • Understanding of software design principles, coding standards, and testing methodologies.

  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving application issues.

  • Knowledge of distributed systems and scalable application development is an asset.

  • Good understanding of Agile software development methodologies.

  • Strong desire to learn new technologies and continuously improve technical skills.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.

  • An equivalent combination of education and practical experience will also be considered.
