Job Description

Within the Affinity Marketing Group (AMG), our mandate is to profitably grow the Affinity business by strengthening partner relationships, enhancing member engagement, and delivering impactful experiences that support customer acquisition and retention.

Reporting to the Manager, Events & Group Support, the Senior Event Planner- Program Lead Quebec is responsible for the strategic leadership and end-to-end management of a complex portfolio of events and activations, with a primary focus on the Quebec market.

This role oversees the planning and execution of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 events, manages significant event investments, and leads cross-functional coordination among business partners, vendors, agencies, and internal stakeholders. The Program Lead is accountable for ensuring consistent delivery of the TD brand experience while driving operational excellence, budget optimization, and measurable business outcomes. Leads Quebec strategy while supporting national initiatives. The role serves as the primary lead for large-scale and high-profile initiatives, developing scalable event strategies, optimizing resource utilization, implementing performance measurement frameworks, and identifying opportunities to improve event effectiveness and return on investment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of a portfolio of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 events and activations.

  • Manage event budgets of approximately $700K annually, ensuring effective financial stewardship and optimization of spending.

  • Develop event strategies aligned with AMG business objectives, partner priorities, and TD brand standards.

  • Lead vendor sourcing, negotiations, contract management, and agency relationships.

  • Oversee event staffing plans and coordinate resources across multiple concurrent events and peak periods.

  • Identify and implement technology-enabled solutions that improve event planning, reporting, participant engagement, and operational efficiency

  • Provide strategic recommendations and event portfolio insights to senior AMG and partner stakeholders

  • Establish and maintain standardized event processes, tools, and execution frameworks.

  • Monitor project timelines, risks, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful event outcomes.

  • Develop and implement event measurement and ROI tracking practices, including post-event reporting and recommendations.

  • Leverage event performance data, participant insights, and business metrics to provide strategic recommendations and inform future investment decisions

  • Collaborate with business partners to identify event opportunities that support partner engagement and business growth.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to coordinators, agencies, vendors, and project resources supporting event delivery.

  • Ensure consistent and exceptional experience for partners, clients, and event participants.

  • Support large-scale onsite event execution, including occasional evening and weekend requirements.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, asset reuse, and operational efficiencies across the events portfolio.

  • Provide onsite support for key events.

  • Compliance with procurement, legal, privacy, brand, and risk management requirements.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • University degree in Marketing, Event Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.

  • Project Management certification is considered an asset.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in event management, experiential marketing, sponsorship activation, or program management.

  • Experience managing large-scale events and complex multi-stakeholder initiatives.

  • Experience managing substantial budgets and vendor partnerships.

  • Experience developing event strategies and performance measurement frameworks.

  • Financial services, insurance, affinity marketing, or partner relationship management experience considered an asset.

Skills:

  • Strong strategic thinking and program management capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from concept through execution.

  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.

  • Excellent vendor negotiation and relationship management skills.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across multiple business areas.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 collaboration and productivity tools, including Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and reporting platforms

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel and support events onsite as required.

  • Bilingual in English and French

  • Possessing a valid driver's license is a strong asset
