Working across business systems, web platforms and museum interactives, the role combines software and systems engineering to deliver secure, reliable, scalable and high-performing solutions.\n\nThe position is responsible for the full lifecycle of technology systems, from prototyping and development through to operation and optimisation, ensuring reliability, availability and performance for our public-facing patrons.\n\nSkills, experience and behaviours\n\nWe're looking for a Full Stack Web Developer with a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience. Someone who can communicate clearly in writing and in person, analyse needs and turn challenging problems into practical solutions, build strong relationships across multi-disciplinary teams with a customer-centric focus, and embrace learning new technologies and platforms. You will also demonstrate genuine respect for and valuing of cultural knowledge and experience through applying tikanga Māori, te reo Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our Mana Taonga principle in your daily work, along with a commitment to deepening that understanding over time.\n\nTechnically someone who is proficient in modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue, and comfortable with AI-assisted and agentic development tools like Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor. You'll have hands-on experience with modern build workflows (GitHub Actions, CI/CD, SaaS CMS platforms, Next.js or Astro), a solid grounding in consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs and designing data structures and schemas and working knowledge of Amazon Web Services and Windows environments.
