Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.\n\nAbout the role\n\nAs a Software Consultant within our Digital Applications and Products team, you'll play an important role in developing, maintaining and supporting applications, services and system integrations that enable digital applications and systems to work together effectively.\n\nWorking closely with Architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Testers and other Developers, you'll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from understanding requirements and designing solutions through to development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.\n\nYou'll help ensure our integrations are secure, scalable and reliable, while troubleshooting technical issues, supporting incident resolution and identifying opportunities to improve system performance and functionality.\n\nThis is an opportunity to apply your integration development expertise in a complex enterprise environment where your work helps enable better digital services for healthcare professionals and the communities they serve.\n\nAbout you\n\nYou're a proactive and collaborative integration specialist who enjoys solving technical problems, improving system reliability and delivering quality solutions. You can communicate technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences, adapt to changing priorities and build strong relationships across technical and business teams.\n\nYou're passionate about continuous improvement and understand the importance of secure, reliable integrations in supporting digital applications and healthcare services.\n\nMust-haves\n\nAt least 5 years' experience in integration development, focused on delivery and operations.\n\nAt least two years' experience with integration technologies or platforms such as MuleSoft, ActiveMQ, Solace, or equivalent.\n\nA relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.\n\nExperience across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through to deployment and maintenance.\n\nExperience developing and maintaining services within a complex enterprise environment.\n\nKnowledge of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall.\n\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders and product teams.\n\nAn understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to equity and improved health outcomes for Māori and all communities.\n\nNice-to-haves\n\nExperience in the health sector, particularly with HL7 v2 and FHIR interfaces.\n\nExperience leading small development projects or mentoring junior developers.\n\nKnowledge of security best practices, networking concepts and protocols.\n\nExperience working with database technologies.\n\nFamiliarity with the New Zealand health system and the needs of healthcare users.\n\nKnowledge of the applications, products and stakeholders within a large organisation.\n\nWhy join us?\n\nAt Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to digital solutions that support healthcare delivery nationwide.
