Our award-winning practice has studios in Manchester, London, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dublin.\nWe are looking for an experienced Associate Director (Civil Engineering) to join our Ireland team. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in the delivery of high-profile built environment projects while helping to shape the growth and success of the business.\nAs an Associate Director, you will lead multidisciplinary project teams and oversee the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across Ireland, including residential, education, commercial, infrastructure, regeneration and public realm developments. You will combine technical leadership with strong commercial awareness, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard, on programme and profitably.\nWorking closely with the leadership team, you will contribute to business planning, team development, client relationship management and business development activities. You will also play a central role in growing our presence in the Irish market through the development of new and existing client relationships.\nRequirements\nTechnical Leadership\nLead the delivery of civil engineering design across a range of projects and sectors.\nProvide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and technicians.\nIdentify project challenges and opportunities, directing teams to develop effective and innovative solutions.\nOversee the production and review of high-quality technical drawings, reports, calculations and presentations.\nUndertake technical reviews and quality assurance checks on your own work and the work of others.\nOversee the preparation and presentation of technical information and project documentation.\nEnsure the effective use of engineering analysis, modelling and design software.\nConduct internal project reviews and contribute to technical excellence across the wider practice.\nEnsure compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and the Practice Quality Management System. \nProject and Team Management\nLead multiple projects concurrently, managing programmes, resources, deliverables and project fees.\nBuild and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and project stakeholders.\nMonitor project performance and effectively manage changes throughout project lifecycles.\nPlan and allocate resources to ensure successful and efficient project delivery.\nLead, mentor and support the development of engineers and technicians.\nContribute to the growth of the wider team through coaching, knowledge sharing and professional development activities.\nMaintain strong financial and commercial awareness across projects and teams.\nContribute to business planning, operational performance and strategic decision-making. \nBusiness Development\nLead business development activity for your team and contribute to the wider growth of the practice.\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with clients, collaborators and industry contacts.\nIdentify and pursue new opportunities in collaboration with Directors and senior colleagues.\nBuild long-term client relationships through exceptional project delivery and communication.\nRepresent the business at client meetings, networking events and industry forums.\nLead the preparation of bids, tenders and fee proposals.\nSupport the growth of existing client accounts while developing new business opportunities.\nPromote the wider services of the practice and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration. \nProfessional Commitment\nMaintain Chartered Engineer status and demonstrate a commitment to professional excellence.\nParticipate in continuing professional development (CPD), technical presentations and knowledge-sharing activities.\nMaintain an active CPD record and Development Action Plan.\nChampion Civic's values and contribute positively to our culture, people and business success. \nQualifications and Experience\nDegree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.\nChartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland (CEng MIEI), ICE, IStructE or an equivalent recognised professional body.\nSignificant consultancy experience across a range of project sectors and scales.\nExperience leading large teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously.\nProven ability to deliver projects successfully while maintaining commercial performance.\nStrong track record of business development, bidding and securing new work.\nAn established professional network within the Irish engineering and development sector. \nCompetencies\n\nExceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.\nExcellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.\nStrong analytical, numerical and problem-solving abilities.\nEffective graphical and visual communication skills.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.\nStrong contractual and commercial awareness.\nExcellent leadership, coaching and team development skills.\nStrong interpersonal and stakeholder management capabilities.\nExcellent organisational and time management skills.\nProven ability to build trusted client relationships and generate business opportunities.\nOur Values\n\nBe Collaborative - Engage with other and collaborate positively\nBe Curious - Master your current role, seek and share knowledge and expertise\nBe Helpful - Demonstrate professionalism, willingly take on new responsibilities without necessarily being asked\nBe Passionate - Take ownership of your role and support others to achieve success in theirs\nBe Ingenious - Find ways to get results by adapting and innovating \nBenefits\nA fair and competitive salary, taking into consideration market rates and your experience level\nFlexibility.
