Our award-winning practice has studios in Manchester, London, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dublin.\nRequirements\nThe role will be based in the South East of England and will be responsible for supporting projects across the Home Counties and Greater London. Working arrangements are hybrid, with the successful candidate expected to attend the studio for part of the week.\nScope of the role\nThe Project Manager will be responsible for the effective planning, coordination and delivery of archaeological fieldwork projects. The role includes organising site logistics, managing staffing requirements, arranging plant and equipment hire, monitoring project programmes and budgets, and ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently and to professional standards. The Project Manager will oversee the preparation and delivery of reports in tandem with the post-excavation team, maintain communication with clients, contractors and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Knowledge of the planning process and national and local planning legislation.\nDay-to-day task and expectations\nPlan, manage, and deliver multiple archaeological fieldwork projects simultaneously, ensuring programmes, resources, budgets, and project objectives are effectively coordinated and achieved.\nManage and coordinate the logistics of archaeological fieldwork projects, including staffing, plant, welfare and equipment hire, site setup, and other operational requirements.\nLiaise with contractors, clients and local planning archaeologists.\nMaintain accurate records and documentation for audits and archive deposition.\nProduce post-excavation reports (Microsoft Word) in tandem with the post-excavation team.\nInput into bids.\nPrepare Project Designs / Written Schemes of Investigation and RAMS.\nResponsible for own time management and others.\nCommunity engagement and/or educational presentations, when required.\nSelf-checking and reviewing other team members' work.\nEnsure projects meet regulatory requirements.\nEssential\nExperience in dealing with complex archaeological sites\nProficiency in relevant software (GIS, CAD, database systems)\nExcellent written and verbal communication\nDesirable\nDegree in Archaeology/History (or related/relevant field)\nFirst aid trained\nUK driving licence\nChartered Institute for Archaeologists membership\nBehaviour and Professional Commitment\nEnthusiasm\nProfessional judgement\nExcellent client care skills\nProactive\nDemonstrating behaviour consistent with Civics’ Values and contributing to the progress of the organisation\nBenefits\nA fair and competitive salary, taking into consideration market rates and your experience level\nFlexibility.
