Our people, known as Greyshirts, are the cornerstone of our mission and success. We are committed to fostering an environment that embodies the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B)-inclusive of beliefs, cultural backgrounds, job experiences, thoughts, and ideas-across all aspects of our operations. \nWe are seeking a Manager, People Operations to join the team on a 14-month fixed-term basis to provide temporary leave coverage, with the possibility of extension. This isn’t a caretaker assignment. We need someone who can step into an established People Operations function, keep critical systems moving, advise leaders confidently, and continue strengthening the infrastructure that allows Greyshirts to do their best work. Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, you will lead the operational delivery of People Operations for TR Canada’s staff workforce while supporting the broader Greyshirt experience. You will oversee key elements of the people lifecycle, including talent acquisition oversight, onboarding and offboarding, policy and employment compliance, workplace health and safety, employee and Greyshirt relations, performance coaching, HR systems, benefits, and people reporting. \nThe right person brings strong HR judgement, technical depth, and the ability to balance compliance with common sense. You can handle difficult conversations, complex employee matters, competing priorities, and confidential information without losing sight of the people behind the process. \nOur culture requires individuals foolish enough to think they can change the world and competent enough to have a chance. Every day is a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities. This position can be hybrid or remote, with occasional travel and in-person work required. \nDuties \nLead the operational delivery of People Operations across the staff lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, benefits, HR systems, and workforce reporting. \nAdvise leaders on hiring, performance, conduct, accommodation, workplace investigations, and other complex or sensitive people matters. \nMaintain compliance with applicable Ontario employment, human rights, accessibility, health and safety, workers’ compensation, and pay equity requirements. \nLead workplace health and safety administration, including support to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and follow-up on safety concerns. \nLead TR Canada’s Performance Coaching Framework, including goal-setting, regular feedback, check-ins, and formal performance reviews. \nAdminister Greyshirt participation and status processes, including Participation Status Committee matters, restrictions, holds, deactivations, screening, and related documentation. \nServe as an HR business partner to the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, supporting workforce planning, organizational design, role alignment, career progression, and broader people strategy. \nAdminister HR systems, benefits, people data, and People Operations communications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency. \nContribute to organizational well-being initiatives and The Arena Project, supporting psychological safety, moral integrity, resilience, and Greyshirt readiness. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nExperience and Background \nBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Post-graduate education is an asset. \nSeven or more years of progressive human resources experience, including at least three years in a leadership role. \nStrong working knowledge of Ontario employment and workplace requirements, including employment standards, occupational health and safety, accessibility, human rights, WSIB, and pay equity obligations. \nDemonstrated experience with employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, accommodation, and other complex or sensitive people matters. \nExperience advising leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, talent management, role alignment, and broader people strategy. \nExperience developing or delivering recruitment, onboarding, learning, leadership development, or performance management programs. \nStrong leadership, coaching, judgement, discretion, and communication skills, with the ability to guide leaders through complex people matters and handle confidential information appropriately. \nStrong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, translate technical HR requirements into practical guidance, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. \nExperience with HR information systems, applicant tracking systems, and tools such as Ceridian, Greenhouse, Asana, and Microsoft Office, or comparable platforms. \nProfessional HR certification, such as CPHR, experience in a non-profit or volunteer-powered environment, and fluency in both of Canada’s official languages are assets. \nJob Type \nFull-time, salaried, fixed-term \nThis is a 14-month fixed-term position providing temporary leave coverage, with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs and circumstances. \nPay Range: $70,000-$80,000 CAD \nVacancy and Applicant Screening Disclosure \nThis posting is for an existing vacancy created by a temporary leave. \nArtificial Intelligence in Recruitment\nTeam Rubicon Canada does not use artificial intelligence to screen, assess, or select applicants for this position. Applications are reviewed by members of our People Operations and hiring team, and hiring decisions are made by people. \nSpecial Requirements \nMilitary veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. \nAccess to a stable internet connection for a hybrid or remote work environment. \nAbility to work non-traditional hours, including occasional evenings and weekends. \nOccasional travel, including overnight travel. \nOccasional work in austere environments may be required. \nThis role regularly handles confidential and sensitive personal information and requires a high degree of discretion and professional judgement. \nCultural Values \nMission First, Greyshirt Always: Anyone joining TR Canada must understand that our mission to provide disaster response comes first. \nStep into the Arena: TR Canada needs leaders who dare to be great. \nEveryone Has a Role; Know It: As teammates, we aspire to work in harmony toward achieving a higher goal than any one of us could accomplish on our own. \nGet Shit Done: We are entrepreneurial, resourceful, and determined, no matter how chaotic the situation. \nChange Your Socks: We take care of ourselves and each other, so we are best equipped to serve those in greatest need. \nAdults Only: Every team member is an adult until proven otherwise. \nYour Mother’s A Donor: Every leader must be committed to fiduciary responsibility, transparency, and financial stewardship. \nPerks of the Team \nProfessional development and leadership development opportunities \nBenefits package \nPaid time off to volunteer with the charity of your choice \nGenerous vacation and sick time \nGenerous holiday schedule \nAccommodation\nTeam Rubicon Canada is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive recruitment process.
