The ideal candidate possesses a rare blend of large-scale team operational experience, PMO discipline, and a strong understanding of enterprise environments.\nKey Responsibilities\nPMO Governance & Portfolio Management\nEstablish, standardize, and enforce PMO methodologies, frameworks, and templates tailored for database engineering and operations.\nMaintain a centralized dashboard tracking portfolio health, project timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource utilization across all database workstreams.\nImplement robust risk management frameworks to anticipate, mitigate, and log project blockers and security vulnerabilities.\nDeliver executive-ready status reports, KPIs, and operational metrics to senior leadership and key stakeholders.\nOperational Leadership & Resource Management\nOversee operational cadences, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups for a cross-functional database services team of 100 people.\nManage complex capacity planning and resource allocation matrices, ensuring optimal staffing for both keep-the-lights-on (BAU) operations and net-new strategic projects.\nStreamline database release management, deployment cycles, and change control procedures to minimize downtime and business disruption.\nDefine, monitor, and optimize team SLAs, OLAs, and incident response metrics in coordination with database engineering leads.\nStakeholder Communication & Collaboration\nAct as the liaison between the Database Services team, clients, business units, and external vendors.\nGather business requirements and translate them into actionable technical project scopes and roadmaps.\nFacilitate cross-departmental alignment for large-scale infrastructure operations.\nQualifications & Skills\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.\nProject Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification is highly preferred.\nITIL foundations certifications are a strong asset.\nExperience\n5+ years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3+ years running operations or PMO functions for large-scale technical teams (50+ people).\nProven track record managing infrastructure or database-specific program portfolios.\nDemonstrated experience building or heavily maturing a PMO from the ground up.\nTechnical & Professional Competencies\nProficiency with enterprise PMO software (e.g., Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet, ServiceNow).\nStructural understanding of the ITIL frameworks, and database operational demands (patching, backups, high availability).\nExceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills capable of uniting highly technical teams and business stakeholders.\nAnalytical mindset with an ability to synthesize complex operational data into clear, actionable executive summaries.\nThe pay range for this role is $125,000- $135,000 per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
