We’re looking for a senior technical leader who thinks of production as the true test of any design and takes responsibility for the result.\nWhat you’ll do\nOwn the architecture: Lead system design, API contracts, data modeling, security, scalability, observability, and cloud spend across our products.\nKeep systems reliable: Be accountable for uptime, latency, and throughput as our user base grows.\nDesign for security from day one: Build safe handling of PHI and payment flows, with compliance built into the architecture rather than added later.\nDrive cloud-native delivery: Run MERN-based platforms on AWS, GCP, or Azure with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and proper secrets management.\nMake the hard calls: Decide between monolith and microservices, choose event-driven patterns, evaluate third-party integrations, and weigh build against buy.\nFix what’s broken: Step into production incidents, trace root causes, and resolve performance, scaling, and availability problems.\nSet the standards: Create reference architectures, reusable patterns, and practical guidelines that 80+ engineers can follow.\nStay hands-on: Write code, lead design reviews, and review pull requests regularly.\nGrow leaders: Mentor senior engineers and help build the next group of tech leads.\nWhat you bring\n8+ years in software engineering, with a track record of owning architecture decisions\n Experience running a live production system with 100,000+ users (required)\nA history of diagnosing and resolving serious scale and performance bottlenecks\nStrong hands-on skills in Node.js and React (MERN preferred)\nSolid architecture experience on AWS, GCP, or Azure\nExperience in healthcare, fintech, payments, insurance, or another high-security domain\nDeep knowledge of distributed systems, API design, databases, and reliability engineering\nThe ability to explain and defend your technical choices to engineers and non-technical stakeholders alike\nNice to have\nDirect experience with HIPAA, PHI handling, or PCI-DSS compliance\nWorking knowledge of Stripe, Braintree, or tokenization\nExperience with high-availability, event-driven, or
