This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, leading software development efforts, and working on advanced simulation and training systems used in mission-critical environments.\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, and integrating sophisticated software solutions while providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead software engineering efforts and provide technical guidance to engineering and technical staff.\nAnalyze system requirements and develop software architecture and design solutions that meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.\nEvaluate hardware and software interfaces and define integration requirements.\nConduct technical trade studies and recommend optimal design approaches.\nIdentify and mitigate technical and program risks throughout the development lifecycle.\nTranslate high-level system requirements into detailed software designs.\nDevelop, maintain, and enhance software applications primarily in C/C++, with exposure to other languages such as Python, Fortran, C#, or Ada.\nWork within Linux-based development environments.\nPerform software testing, integration, troubleshooting, and validation activities.\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, interface documentation, and reports.\nCollaborate with program management, hardware engineering, manufacturing, and customer stakeholders.\nSupport deployment, installation, and acceptance testing efforts at customer locations.\nContribute to technical proposals and new business initiatives as needed.\nTechnical Leadership Responsibilities\nWhile this position does not include direct people management, it does involve technical leadership responsibilities, including:\nMentoring junior and mid-level engineers.\nConducting peer reviews and providing technical feedback.\nSupporting onboarding and knowledge transfer activities.\nPromoting engineering best practices and continuous process improvement.\nFacilitating collaboration across cross-functional teams.\nAssisting project leadership in tracking technical progress and execution.\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.\nMinimum of 4 years of experience in software engineering, simulation, modeling, or related technical development environments.\nStrong software development experience using C/C++.\nExperience working in Linux operating systems.\nKnowledge of software architecture, systems integration, and software testing methodologies.\nExperience with version control and configuration management tools such as Git or Subversion.\nUnderstanding of networking concepts and computer system architectures.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience developing simulation or training systems.\nBackground working on complex real-time, distributed, or embedded software systems.\nExperience with Python, C#, Fortran, Ada, or other high-level programming languages.\nFamiliarity with Department of Defense (DoD), aerospace, defense, or government-contractor environments.\nExperience participating in customer-facing acceptance testing and system deployments.\nTravel\nApproximately 25% travel.\nDomestic travel is expected, with occasional international travel.\nTravel may range from several days to several weeks and can include weekend work when supporting customer installations, testing, or training activities.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a valid passport may be required.\nWork Schedule\nStandard Monday through Friday schedule.\nFlexibility to work additional hours, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts when
