Our leaders identify the technical talent best suited to bolster our client's capabilities, across all industries, including, healthcare, government, finance, legal, real estate, and startups.\nThe Opportunity\nTECKpert is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to support our client, a state government agency in Tallahassee, FL, within its Office of Information Technology integration services team. This role will help establish new integration methods and standards and will own the firewall, VPN, and network security infrastructure that protects the agency's on-premises and cloud environments.\nThe engineer will administer and migrate Palo Alto and Check Point next generation firewalls, manage GlobalProtect VPN access, design secure network segmentation, and lead the investigation of complex network and security incidents. The role works closely with architecture, cybersecurity, systems, cloud, and application teams, maintains NIST aligned documentation, and mentors other network and security staff.\nJob duties include, but are not limited to:\nPerform security administration to configure and document firewall access rules across Palo Alto, Check Point, and GlobalProtect VPN environments\nLead firewall deployments, rule migrations, and conversion of existing rule based policies onto new platforms\nAdminister core network security infrastructure including next generation firewalls, VPNs, log collectors, and monitoring tools\nConfigure firewall and security policies for cloud network infrastructure and monitor network traffic\nDesign and support enterprise network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, routing and switching, wireless, segmentation, Internet and cloud connectivity, and data center networks\nDevelop segmentation strategies that limit lateral movement and evaluate east-west and north-south traffic flows for security risk\nMonitor, analyze, and respond to security events, and lead root cause analysis of complex network and security incidents using logging, packet analysis, and monitoring tools\nPerform security risk assessments and prepare executive level status reports, security metrics, and recommendations\nMaintain NIST aligned documentation including network diagrams, IP addressing, VLANs, firewall rules, security configurations, and disaster recovery procedures\nProvide technical leadership, establish network engineering standards, and mentor network and security staff\nCompensation and Term\nThis opportunity is for a full-time, contract position with possible extensions and pay commensurate with experience up to $85 per hour or $176,800 per year. Medical, dental, vision and life insurance available after 30 days of hire.\nQualifications you need\nA successful candidate has the following experience:\n5 to 10 years of combined IT and information security experience\n3 to 5 years of experience with information security tools based on NIST standards\nHands-on administration of next generation firewalls, preferably Palo Alto Networks or Check Point\nFirewall rule migrations and policy conversion between platforms\nVPN technologies, including GlobalProtect or similar remote access solutions\nRouting and switching, LAN/WAN, network segmentation, and wireless infrastructure\nCloud network security, including firewall and security policy configuration in cloud environments\nSecurity monitoring, incident response, packet analysis, and vulnerability management\nNetwork diagramming with Visio or similar schematic tools\nAbility to work onsite Monday through Friday in Tallahassee, FL\nPreferred (not required)\nPalo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)\nCISSP, CCNP, or CCIE certification\nCheck Point certification (CCSA or CCSE)\nAzure or AWS network security experience\nExperience in state or local government IT environments\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience\nWorking with us\nWorking with TECKpert means more options.
