Due to continued growth, they are searching for a Senior Electrical Designer with experience supporting oil and gas midstream, pipeline, and industrial facility projects. This contract position can be hybrid or fully remote. This role is suited to a technically capable, up-and-coming designer who is ready to take greater ownership of electrical and controls deliverables while continuing to strengthen their technical judgment and multidisciplinary coordination skills. The successful candidate will support multiple concurrent brownfield projects, including facility modifications, compressor and pump station upgrades, meter station expansions, power distribution improvements, equipment replacements, and other small capital work. This is a hands-on design position requiring practical experience in both electrical power and controls systems, strong detail design capabilities, and the ability to progress assigned work with limited supervision in a fast-paced project environment. Typical projects include:\n\n Compressor station upgrades and modifications\n\n Pipeline pump station upgrades and expansions\n\n Meter station additions and facility improvements\n\n Brownfield facility modifications and tie-ins\n\n MCC, VFD, and motor replacement projects\n\n Power distribution upgrades\n\n Electrical and controls equipment replacements\n\n Control panel upgrades and modifications\n\n Facility integrity and reliability improvements\n\n Small capital and maintenance projects within operating facilities\n\nWhat you will be doing:\n\n Take ownership of assigned electrical and controls design deliverables, progressing work with limited supervision and engaging technical leads when appropriate.\n\n Complete detailed electrical and controls design for oil and gas midstream, pipeline, and industrial facility projects.\n\n Prepare and maintain design deliverables, including: \n\n Cable tray layouts\n\n Lighting and grounding plans\n\n Power and electrical equipment layouts\n\n Electrical equipment and load lists\n\n Single-line diagrams\n\n Schematics and wiring diagrams\n\n Control panel layout\n\n Cable schedules and routing drawings\n\n I/O and loop drawings\n\n Area classification drawings\n\n Electrical installation details\n\n 3D models and associated design information\n\nPerform and verify electrical design calculations, including:\n\n Voltage drop\n\n Lighting levels\n\n Cable tray fill\n\n Heat trace wattage\n\n Populate, maintain, and validate electrical load lists and cable schedules.\n\n Review existing drawings, field information, and project documentation to identify scope gaps, design constraints, and potential conflicts.\n\n Develop practical and constructible designs that account for existing facility conditions, operational requirements, and brownfield interfaces.\n\n Support field verification and incorporate confirmed site conditions into design deliverables.\n\n Apply digital workflows to prepare, review, communicate, and incorporate design markups and redlines.\n\n Review layouts and drawing packages for scope alignment, technical accuracy, constructability, consistency, and presentation quality.\n\n Maintain design integrity and quality control across assigned deliverables.\n\n Coordinate electrical and controls requirements across instrumentation, process, piping, mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines.\n\n Support 3D model development, model reviews, and multidisciplinary design coordination.\n\n Contribute to design reviews by identifying coordination concerns and recommending practical solutions.\n\n Communicate progress, information requirements, technical risks, and schedule constraints clearly and proactively.\n\n Support projects through design development, construction, commissioning, and field execution.\n\n Manage deliverables across multiple small to mid-sized projects while meeting quality and schedule expectations.\n\nWhat you must have:\n\n Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline. A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering may be considered when accompanied by relevant hands-on electrical design experience.\n\n 8+ years of electrical design experience within an EPC, EPCM, or engineering consulting environment in the Oil & Gas industry.\n\n Demonstrated design experience in both electrical power and controls systems. Candidates may have greater depth in one area, but practical project experience in both is required.\n\n Proficiency with digital design, drawing review, and markup workflows using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or comparable engineering software.\n\n Experience coordinating design work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.\n\n Strong attention to detail, technical problem-solving ability, and written and verbal communication skills.\n\n Ability to take ownership of assigned deliverables while recognizing when technical guidance or review is required.\n\nNice to have:\n\n Experience supporting compressor stations, pump stations, meter stations, or pipeline facilities.\n\n Experience using Elecdes software.\n\n Experience with 3D modelling and multidisciplinary model coordination.\n\nExperience using data-centric or database-driven engineering design workflows, such as:\n\n SmartPlant\n\n Intergraph applications\n\n Microsoft Access\n\n Power BI\n\nSkills and Attributes:\n\n A self-directed designer who can progress assigned work with limited supervision.\n\n Technically curious and motivated to continue developing their design expertise.\n\n Clear and effective communicator who collaborates well across disciplines.\n\n Highly detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to design quality and accuracy.\n\n Organized and comfortable managing several deadlines and shifting priorities.\n\n Proactive in identifying scope gaps, design conflicts, technical risks, and information requirements.\n\n Accountable for assigned deliverables and reliable in communicating progress or constraints.\n\n Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.\n\n Focused on developing practical, safe, and constructible solutions for operating facilities.\n\nThank you for your interest in this opportunity.
