Position Summary:

The  Financial Analyst position is responsible for providing relevant, accurate, and timely financial analysis in support of our business units. The Financial Analyst serves as a finance support to Finance Business Partners and business units as needed. This role provides direct support of FP&A functions such as (but not limited to) forecasting, budgeting, headcount tracking, and sales compensation analysis. The analyst has some knowledge of building reports using business intelligence applications (i.e., Tableau, PowerBI, PowerPivot/DAX).

Primary Responsibilities/Tasks

  •     Supports the Finance Business Partners at business units
  •     Performs financial planning and analysis, including forecasting, annual budgeting, FTE/headcount tracking, and ad hoc reporting and analysis
  •     Supports month-end close processes and reviews financials for accuracy
  •     Researches, gathers, and interprets data for financial reporting
  •     Analyzes and explains fluctuations in revenue and expenses vs. projections
  •     Provides insights on business trends to internal stakeholders
  •     Develops solutions to streamline tasks and processes for the finance group
  •     Other duties as assigned

  •     Finance Business Partner and FP&A Leadership satisfaction
  •     Accurate forecasting, month-end processes, and adherence to audit requirements
  •     Operational knowledge of industry trends, initiatives, and innovations

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  •     Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics, or related fields
  •     1-3 years of financial analysis experience or comparable work experience.
  •     Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment to deliver results by stated deadlines.
  •     Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with internal and external stakeholders- both in person and in a virtual environment.
  •     Demonstrated customer service skills.
  •     Comfortable completing projects both alone as well as in a team environment.
  •     Strong data gathering skills.
  •     Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (PowerPivot/DAX experience a plus), knowledge of Oracle EPM, and familiarity with BI software (i.e., Tableau, PowerBI)

Our 401(k) program offers full, part-time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1% - 80% of their pay on a pre-tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
