TEGNA is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Regional Head of Technology & Operations to lead, manage, and maintain broadcast and IT technologies across multiple award-winning media properties.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that our local media properties have the tools and technologies they need to achieve their goals. You will work closely with the Content, Marketing, Technology, and Operations teams and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration between systems, successful completion of key initiatives, and optimal technology utilization. Leveraging your technical expertise and leadership skills, you will work with local and corporate staff to bring innovative solutions to life. Responsibilities:
- Direct oversight of Technology and Operations across multiple media properties:
- Ensure operational excellence
- Build and manage operational and capital budgets
- Maintain compliance and oversee physical security
- Build and maintain exceptional local leaders and staff
- Build and work with local leadership on Strategic Plans
- Assist in the technical support of critical hardware and software
- Subject matter expert and special projects management:
- Lead companywide technology focus areas such as Broadcast transmitters, Towers, Field Acquisition, Sports production, Signal Distribution, Production, etc.
- Lead and maintain affiliate technology, performance, and roadmap
- Evaluate, select, and lead the implementation of special projects as needed.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely across departments to ensure seamless workflow and integration between systems.
- Collaborate with the company leadership to understand the current and future needs and provide ongoing support.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Process Improvement:
- Continuously assess and refine processes related to the implementation and management of technology and operations.
- Use AI tools to optimize and improve workflows
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the current and competitive.
Requirements:
- Seven or more years of experience in technology or operations management
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Strong technical expertise in Sony ELC, Chyron Prime, Singular Live, BTI, Bitcentral, Harmonic Spectrum, XOS, and Dante Audio platforms.
- Hands-on experience with production tools and editing software.
- Familiarity with cloud-based technologies and data solutions.
- Ability to analyze complex challenges, identify root causes, and develop creative solutions that meet business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Experience managing complex technical projects, with a focus on Agile methodologies, stakeholder communication, and risk management.
- Experience with project management tools (Wrike), and collaboration platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data and insights clearly to various stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule onsite in support of a 24x7x365 operation.
- Must be able to travel as needed in support of affiliate operations and nationwide technology initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates with experience in cloud production technologies, sports production and distribution, audio production technologies, and signal path and distribution technologies are highly encouraged to apply
- Preference given to candidates within or in close proximity to the assigned region.
- Certifications in relevant workflow tools are advantageous
Pay Range
$150,000—$165,000 USD
