Together, we are building a sustainable future for local news.\nThe Sales Assistant / Sales Development position provides comprehensive support to the KWES Sales Department and Director of Sales while gaining broad exposure to the station's sales, operational and client-service functions. This is adepartment-wide sales support position and is not dedicated exclusively to individual Account Executives. Responsibilities and priorities may shift based on the operational, Account Manager, sales and leadership needs of the department.\nThe position will support sales leadership, assist Account Executives as needed, provide backup Account Manager coverage, and develop knowledge of KWES's broadcast, streaming and digital sales solutions. This role is also designed to provide professional development and exposure that may prepare a successful employee for a future Account Executive opportunity as business needs and openings arise.\nFour Core Areas of Responsibility\n1. Director of Sales & Department Support\nServe as a primary support resource to the Director of Sales and overall\nKWES sales organization.\nResponsibilities include:\nAssist the DOS with sales reports, presentations, meeting preparation\nand follow-up.\nSupport preparation for weekly sales meetings, revenue discussions\nand sales initiatives.\nAssist with revenue, inventory and sales activity reporting.\nMaintain current sales materials, programming information,\nsponsorship opportunities and other department resources.\nTrack department deadlines, outstanding items and projects requiring\nfollow-up.\nAssist with special sales initiatives, client events and station\nopportunities.\nCoordinate information and workflow between Sales and other\ndepartments, including Traffic, Creative Services, Finance, Digital and\nSales Fulfillment.\nAssist with organization and execution of seasonal programming,\nsports, political and special sales opportunities.\nProvide administrative and project support as assigned by the DOS.\nTake on additional responsibilities based on changing department\npriorities and business needs.\n2. Account Executive & Sales Support\nProvide operational and administrative support to Account Executives as\nneeded and based on department priorities to allow sellers to maximize\nclient-facing and new-business development time.\nResponsibilities include:\nAssist with order entry, revisions and schedule changes.\nSupport campaign setup and maintenance.\nMonitor active schedules and campaign delivery.\nAssist with makegoods, preemptions and discrepancy resolution.\nPrepare and update client presentations, proposals and sales\nmaterials.\nAssist with avails and inventory coordination.\nCoordinate commercial materials, scripts and creative needs.\nFollow up with Traffic, Creative Services and Sales Fulfillment on\noutstanding items.\nAssist with routine client and agency administrative requests.\nSupport campaign recaps and post-campaign reporting.\nHelp maintain accurate client, account and campaign information.\nAssist with Matrix/CRM administrative support while maintaining AE\naccountability for prospecting activity, opportunities and pipeline\nmanagement.\nThe Sales Assistant supports the business of the sales department rather\nthan being permanently assigned to any individual Account Executive.\n3. Account Manager Coverage & Operational Support\nDevelop proficiency in Account Manager responsibilities to provide reliable\nbackup coverage during vacations, PTO, vacancies, periods of increased\nworkload or other business needs.\nResponsibilities include:\nBecome proficient in WO Media Sales and applicable sales systems.\nEnter and revise orders accurately.\nUnderstand Traffic workflow, deadlines and requirements.\nAssist with schedule maintenance and campaign stewardship.\nCoordinate makegoods and resolve scheduling discrepancies.\nAssist with billing and invoice questions as appropriate.\nTrack commercial materials and creative requirements.\nUnderstand MediaFerry and applicable creative workflows.\nProvide professional client and agency administrative communication.\nCoordinate with internal departments to ensure campaign fulfillment.\nMaintain continuity of sales operations when Account Manager\ncoverage is needed.\nThe expectation is that this employee becomes a dependable cross-trained\nresourcewho can step into operational gaps without disrupting service to\nclients or the sales team.\n4. Account Executive Development\nDevelop the foundational skills, product knowledge and sales experience\nnecessary to potentially advance into a future Account Executive position.\nDevelopment opportunities may include:\nParticipate in sales and product training.\nDevelop knowledge of KWES/KIDY/KXVAbroadcast programming and\nsales opportunities.\nLearn TEGNA's Total TV approach: Broadcast + Streaming + Digital.\nDevelop working knowledge of Premion, CTV/OTT, Audience\nMarketplace and other digital solutions.\nLearn Matrix CRM and proper pipeline management.\nParticipate in prospect research and new-business development\nexercises.\nLearn effective prospecting techniques.\nObserve and participate in client discovery.\nAttend selected client meetings and AE ride-alongs.\nAssist with development of integrated client recommendations.\nLearn proposal development and presentation skills.\nGain exposure to pricing and inventory strategy.\nDevelop understanding of campaign measurement, stewardship and\nrenewal.\nParticipate in role-play, presentation and sales-development exercises.\nDemonstrate the ability to communicate the value of\nKWES/KIDY/KXVAand TEGNA solutions to local businesses.\nCareer Development Opportunity\nThis position is designed to provide broad exposure to the KWES/KIDY/KXVAsales organization and may serve as a developmental pathway toward a future Account Executive opportunity. As the employee demonstrates proficiency in their core responsibilities, additional opportunities may be provided to develop prospecting, discovery, presentation, client relationship and new-business skills.
