Software Development Engineer in Test

Responsibilities:

• Feature Quality Ownership: You will own end-to-end quality for assigned features and modules. This means defining test scope, identifying risk areas, writing comprehensive test cases, performing exploratory testing, and signing off stories with full coverage confidence all without needing a walkthrough or escalation.
• Test Case Management: You will ensure 100% of your assigned test cases are authored, reviewed, tagged by priority, and linked to JIRA in TCMS. You will proactively fill coverage gaps every sprint, adding missing edge cases, negative paths, and boundary scenarios. Zero Excel dependency for regression is a non-negotiable expectation.
• Automation Delivery: You will design, develop, and maintain clean, scalable Playwright and TypeScript automation scripts following the team's established framework patterns. You are expected to plan automation tasks before sprint Day 1 deliver consistently every sprint, and merge all automation before sprint closure with zero carry-forwards.
• Framework Contributions: You will contribute at least one reusable framework utility per quarter: assertion helpers, data builders, response validators, or test utilities that are adopted by at least one other team member. All contributions must be documented in the team wiki within one sprint of creation.
• Regression and CI/CD Ownership: You will own regression execution and pipeline health for your module areas. You will drive flakiness below 5% through root cause analysis and test redesign, contribute to quality gate implementation, resolve pipeline failures within four hours, and share monthly pipeline health summaries with the team.
• Mentoring and Collaboration: You will actively mentor at least one junior SDET through weekly structured feedback on test design, automation code quality, and domain understanding. You will unblock junior SDETs within four hours of any blocker being raised and contribute to sprint test planning every cycle.
• AI-Driven Productivity: You will use AI tools daily for at least three activities: test case generation, code scaffolding, log analysis, or failure triage. You will contribute reusable prompts to the team AI playbook every quarter and share at least one AI productivity win per sprint with the team.
• Ownership and Accountability: You will operate with zero manager follow-ups per sprint. Daily JIRA status updates are mandatory. Blockers must be flagged within two hours of identification. All PR review comments must be addressed within one business day without any reminder.

Requirements:

• Experience: 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in software testing and quality engineering, with at least one year of writing production-grade automation in a team framework.
• Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of Playwright and TypeScript for UI and API test automation. Comfortable writing, reviewing, and improving automation scripts independently. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins or equivalent. Experience with Git-based workflows, PR reviews, and branching strategies. Basic understanding of REST APIs and SQL for test data setup and validation.
• Testing Fundamentals: Strong command of risk-based testing, boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, and exploratory testing. Ability to write clear, complete, and traceable test cases with proper expected results and JIRA linkage.
• Soft Skills: Strong ownership mindset; you take responsibility for outcomes, not just activities. Proactive communicator who flags risks early and keeps stakeholders informed without being asked. Collaborative team player who actively lifts the people around them.
• AI Adoption: Comfortable using AI tools in daily QA work for test case generation, code scaffolding, log summarisation, or failure root cause analysis. Willingness to experiment, learn, and share AI-driven wins with the team.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2 to 4 years of software testing experience with demonstrated automation delivery.
• Proficiency in at least one modern automation framework: Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ceremonies and JIRA-based sprint workflows.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
