Tekion employs close to 3,000 people across North America, Asia and Europe.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET-I) to join our Engineering team. As an SDET-I, you will contribute to building and enhancing test automation across our cloud-native applications, working alongside experienced engineers to strengthen quality engineering practices and support continuous delivery.\nYou will collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and DevOps teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. This role requires solid programming fundamentals, a keen interest in automation, and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain automated test scripts for UI, API, and integration testing using established frameworks.\n\nWrite reliable automated test cases using Java and automation tools such as Playwright.\n\nBuild and execute API test suites using Rest Assured or equivalent frameworks.\n\nContribute to the integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.\n\nCollaborate with developers and senior SDETs to understand features, improve testability, and ensure product quality.\n\nReview functional and technical requirements, identify test scenarios, and create detailed test plans.\n\nPerform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across distributed applications.\n\nDebug test failures, investigate root causes, and work with development teams to resolve defects.\n\nImprove and expand test automation coverage and execution reliability.\n\nParticipate in sprint ceremonies, backlog grooming, and engineering discussions.\n\nFollow and adopt engineering best practices, coding standards, and team conventions.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.\n\n1.5years - 3 years of experience in Software Development in Test or QA Automation.\n\nSolid programming skills in Java with a good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles.\n\nWorking experience with Playwright or Selenium WebDriver.\n\nHands-on experience in API testing using Rest Assured, Postman, or similar tools.\n\nFamiliarity with test frameworks such as TestNG, JUnit, or equivalent.\n\nBasic understanding of software engineering principles, SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.\n\nExposure to CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.\n\nGood debugging and analytical skills.\n\nExperience using Git for version control and collaborative workflows.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExposure to microservices architecture and API-first development patterns.\n\nBasic familiarity with Docker and containerized environments.\n\nAwareness of cloud platforms such as AWS.\n\nBasic knowledge of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and writing SQL queries.\n\nFamiliarity with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.\n\nInterest in observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Kibana.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nSolid programming fundamentals with a genuine interest in quality engineering.\nEagerness to learn, adapt, and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.\nAttention to detail and a sense of ownership over assigned testing areas.\nCuriosity to explore modern testing technologies and engineering practices.\nTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.\nCurrent Tekion Employees: Please apply via the Internal Job Board in Ashby\nNote: Tekion recently transitioned to a new recruiting tool and we appreciate your patience and feedback as we adjust to our new system!\nTekion is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
