This role combines deep software engineering expertise with strong testing and automation skills to design, build, and evolve robust quality solutions across front-end and back-end systems. \nThe ideal candidate brings extensive experience in software development, test automation, system design, and quality engineering practices. This individual will drive technical excellence by developing scalable automation frameworks, leading quality initiatives, influencing engineering standards, and partnering with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. \nDuties and Responsibilities\nLead the design, development, and implementation of scalable quality engineering solutions across critical product and platform areas.\n\nDevelop and maintain automated test frameworks and solutions for front-end, back-end, API, and integration testing.\n\nConduct comprehensive manual and automated testing for UI, APIs, databases, and distributed software systems.\n\nDesign and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, and detailed test reports for complex applications.\n\nBuild and maintain automation suites using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, and similar testing frameworks.\n\nPerform API testing using tools such as Postman to validate integrations, workflows, and data consistency.\n\nWrite and maintain high-quality code for automation frameworks, testing utilities, and engineering tools.\n\nTranslate business and product requirements into effective testing strategies that improve reliability, performance, and user experience.\n\nLead quality initiatives across engineering teams and influence best practices related to testing, automation, observability, and operational excellence.\n\nIdentify system risks, performance issues, defects, and technical debt, and drive improvement initiatives.\n\nCollaborate with developers, product managers, architects, and engineering leaders to define quality goals and technical priorities.\n\nPerform root cause analysis for complex production issues and drive preventive solutions.\n\nMentor engineers and QA professionals through technical guidance, automation best practices, code reviews, and problem-solving support.\n\nContribute to architecture discussions and long-term platform evolution by ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainabilityPromote a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.\n\n8+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, or test automation roles.\n\nStrong experience testing complex web applications across front-end and back-end systems.\n\nDeep understanding of software design, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems concepts.\n\nStrong programming skills in Core Java and experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages.\n\nHands-on experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent tools.\n\nExperience with API testing tools such as Postman and validation of service integrations.\n\nStrong SQL skills with the ability to write queries for backend validation and data verification.\n\nExperience with UI testing, API testing, database testing, and end-to-end test automation.\n\nStrong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), defect management, and quality processes.\n\nExperience using tools such as JIRA or similar test and issue management platforms.\n\nKnowledge of performance testing, reliability engineering, observability, and secure software development practices.\n\nExperience working in Agile development environments and leading cross-functional engineering initiatives.\n\nDemonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and drive quality improvements without direct authority.\n\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.\n\nCurrent Tekion Employees: Please apply via the Internal Job Board in Ashby\nNote: Tekion recently transitioned to a new recruiting tool and we appreciate your patience and feedback as we adjust to our new system!\nTekion is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
