Together, we’re transforming how better health happens.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help build and support applications used across Teladoc Health.\nThis is a hands-on full-stack role. You will spend most of your time designing, building, testing, and supporting software, with a primary focus on Ruby on Rails and React. You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and technical partners to solve problems and deliver reliable software to production.\nWe are also adopting AI-assisted development tools as part of our engineering workflow. We value engineers who know how to use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar tools to speed up development, testing, debugging, and documentation while still applying good engineering judgment.\nHealthcare experience is a plus. Experience with FHIR, HL7, Mirth Connect, EHR/EMR integrations, or other healthcare interoperability technologies is helpful, but it is not required. \nWhat You'll Be Doing\nBuild and maintain backend services and APIs using Ruby on Rails. \nBuild and maintain frontend applications using React, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript. \nDesign and develop REST APIs and integrations with other applications and services. \nWork with databases and write SQL as part of day-to-day development and troubleshooting. \nWork with Kafka or other messaging/event-driven systems where appropriate. \nParticipate in technical design discussions and help make decisions about application architecture. \nWrite unit and integration tests and help maintain a strong automated test suite. \nReview code and provide practical feedback to other engineers. \nInvestigate and resolve production issues. \nParticipate in deployments, monitoring, and ongoing production support. \nWork with product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and turn them into working software. \nDocument technical decisions, APIs, and important system behavior. \nHelp improve development practices, tooling, and engineering processes. \nParticipate in an on-call rotation as needed. \nWhat You'll Bring\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience. \nStrong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails. \nExperience building production applications with React. \nGood understanding of Ruby, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript. \nExperience building and consuming REST APIs. \nExperience with SQL and relational databases. \nExperience writing automated tests. \nExperience with Git and modern software development practices. \nExperience troubleshooting and supporting production applications. \nAbility to take ownership of work from design through implementation and production. \nGood communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other engineers and cross-functional teams. \nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working in healthcare or healthcare technology. \nExperience with FHIR, HL7v2, or CCDA/C-CDA. \nExperience with Mirth Connect or another healthcare integration engine. \nExperience with EHR/EMR systems (Athena/Cerner/Epic). \nExperience with Kafka or other messaging platforms. \nExperience with AWS, Azure, or GCP. \nFamiliarity with Docker and Kubernetes. \nExperience with healthcare data privacy and security, including HIPAA. \nExperience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor. \nAs part of our hiring process, we verify identity and credentials, conduct interviews (live or video), and screen for fraud or misrepresentation.
