Together, we’re transforming how better health happens.\nSummary of Position\nTeladoc Health is seeking a Senior/Mid Software Engineer - Mirth / Healthcare Interoperability to join our engineering organization and build, enhance, and support healthcare integrations that enable the secure and reliable exchange of clinical and operational data.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role focused on Mirth Connect, HL7v2, and healthcare interoperability. The engineer will design and implement complex integration workflows, troubleshoot production interfaces, collaborate with internal teams and external healthcare partners, and contribute to the evolution of our integration platform.\nThe ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Mirth Connect and HL7v2, combined with solid software engineering, integration, debugging, and production support skills. Experience with FHIR, EHR/EMR integrations, and healthcare interoperability standards is highly valued. \nKey Responsibilities\nHealthcare Integration & Engineering\nDesign, develop, configure, test, deploy, and maintain healthcare interfaces using Mirth Connect. \nDevelop complex integration workflows for HL7v2 message parsing, transformation, validation, routing, and delivery. \nDevelop reusable and maintainable JavaScript-based transformations and business logic within Mirth Connect. \nIntegrate healthcare systems using TCP/MLLP, HTTP/HTTPS, SFTP, and other integration protocols. \nTranslate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable, and production-ready integration solutions. \nCollaborate with internal engineering teams, healthcare organizations, and external vendors to design and implement interfaces. \nContribute to the design and evolution of healthcare interoperability solutions and integration architecture. \nIdentify opportunities to improve integration performance, reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency. \nProduction Support & Reliability\nMonitor and support production healthcare interfaces and integration workflows. \nDiagnose and resolve issues involving message processing, transformation, routing, connectivity, certificates, and downstream systems. \nTroubleshoot network and protocol-level issues across MLLP, HTTP/HTTPS, and SFTP. \nPerform root-cause analysis for production incidents and implement sustainable corrective actions. \nImprove interface reliability through effective logging, monitoring, alerting, error handling, and operational automation. \nParticipate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production integrations. \nEnsure integration solutions meet appropriate security, reliability, and operational standards. \nCollaboration & Technical Leadership\nPartner with product managers, architects, engineers, analysts, and external vendors to deliver healthcare integration solutions. \nCommunicate technical designs, issues, risks, and solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. \nParticipate in technical design and architecture reviews. \nConduct code and configuration reviews and promote standards for secure, scalable, and maintainable integration development. \nCreate and maintain technical documentation, including interface specifications, mapping documents, design documents, and operational runbooks. \nMentor engineers and serve as a technical resource for Mirth Connect, HL7v2, and healthcare interoperability. \nContribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns, and continuous improvement across the integration platform. \nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years of professional software engineering and/or healthcare integration experience, including 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting Mirth Connect integrations. \nStrong, practical knowledge of HL7v2, including message structure, segments, fields, components, repetitions, acknowledgments, and common message types. \nDemonstrated experience designing and implementing Mirth Connect channels, including connectors, filters, transformers, and JavaScript. \nStrong experience with TCP/MLLP, HTTP/HTTPS, and SFTP. \nProven ability to troubleshoot connectivity, message delivery, transformation, routing, and downstream system issues in production environments. \nWorking knowledge of JavaScript for Mirth transformations and integration logic. \nUnderstanding of SSL/TLS, certificates, keystores/truststores, and secure endpoint configuration. \nWorking knowledge of SQL and relational databases. \nExperience with software development lifecycle practices, source control, testing, deployment, and production support. \nStrong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. \nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams, business stakeholders, and external partners. \nPreferred Qualifications\nHands-on experience with FHIR, including FHIR resources, APIs, and integration patterns. \nExperience with EHR/EMR integrations and healthcare information exchange. \nExperience with CCDA/C-CDA. \nFamiliarity with XDS.b and XCA. \nExperience working with healthcare interoperability standards and architectures. \nExperience developing or integrating with REST APIs and web services. \nExperience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases. \nExperience with other healthcare interface engines such as Rhapsody, Corepoint, Cloverleaf, or similar technologies. \nExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. \n Mirth Connect Certified Developer (MCCD) certification. \nParticipation in Mirth Connect, healthcare interoperability, or open-source technical communities. \nAs part of our hiring process, we verify identity and credentials, conduct interviews (live or video), and screen for fraud or misrepresentation.
