Job Description
Job Summary:
The Deputy General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for a growing energy systems business, with a particular focus on fuel cell technologies, thermoelectric, hydrogen and advanced power solutions serving government, defense, space, and industrial markets. This role supports business performance, advances technical capabilities, and leads multidisciplinary execution to deliver reliable, high-quality products aligned with long-term business objectives.
Detailed Description:
Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Support the VP/GM with P&L execution, including revenue growth, margin improvement, cost management, and capital planning.
- Assist in developing and executing multi-year business strategies aligned with market demand, customer needs, and corporate objectives.
- Lead annual operating plans, forecasts, and long-range financial modeling with strong command of EBIT, cash flow, and working capital.
- Partner closely with Finance, Business Development, and Operations to ensure disciplined execution and sustainable growth.
Technical & Product Leadership
- Manage product, program, and technical portfolios to maximize business performance and customer satisfaction.
- Provide oversight and informed guidance across fuel cell system design, development, qualification, and production
- Ensure technical roadmaps align with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and emerging technologies.
- Balance innovation with manufacturability, reliability, lifecycle cost, and disciplined risk management.
- Serve as a credible technical leader with customers, partners, and internal engineering teams.
Operational & Organizational Leadership
- Drive day-to-day operational performance by translating strategy into disciplined operational execution across functions.
- Lead and develop high-performing teams across Engineering, Operations, Program Management, and support functions.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, environmental health and safety, export control, contractual, and corporate requirements.
- Attract, retain, and develop senior technical and operational talent while supporting succession planning and leadership development.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a senior interface with key customers, government stakeholders, and strategic partners.
- Support capture strategies, major proposals, and long-cycle program pursuits.
- Represent the business in executive reviews, customer briefings, and strategic discussions.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- at least 5 years of leadership experience within energy systems, fuel cells, power generation, aerospace, defense, or advanced industrial technologies.
- Demonstrated success supporting complex P&L responsibilities and business performance objectives.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary organizations and drive cross-functional execution.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, or other regulated markets.
- Background scaling operations or transitioning products from development to production.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to connect technical decisions to business outcomes.
Salary Range:
$135,500.00-$180,600.000The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, local regulations (such as minimum wage), education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
