This manager will lead the department to achieve greater efficiency and productivity to meet operational and financial goals, help develop, train and sustain a positive, high-energy workforce in a continuous improvement environment, and meet customer schedules, specifications and quality requirements. This role will report to the Director of Operations.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nEffectively manage and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering department with an emphasis on employee growth, project success, customer satisfaction, and site performance;\nCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws;\nResponsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; immediately addressing complaints and resolving problems;\nCreate and conduct performance reviews based on performance and input received from cross-functional feedback;\nRecommend annual merit increases;\nAssist in the formation of annual budgetary plans, strategic goal setting and other annual planning;\nMust be comfortable being a hands-on type leader who will come alongside employees to truly understand their concerns and remove barriers to success;\nMust have effective problem resolution skills with big picture awareness;\nProvide regular status reports for ongoing programs and support efforts within the group;\nMonitor projects for compliance with schedule and budget;\nWork with other departments and engineering teams to forecast realistic project schedules and costs;\nAdherence to all corporate policies and procedures;\nMaintain site and corporate information on engineering projects;\nIdentify opportunities with manufacturing processes that result in significant improvement, including yield increases, cost reductions, capacity increases, and capability advancements;\nDevise techniques for maximizing the output of work areas/facilities;\nProvide strong leadership and vision to the workforce;\nProvide support for employees/teams to accomplish assigned tasks;\nAssume shared responsibility for plant performance along with other functional managers;\nEnsure appropriate metrics are maintained for team performance;\nAssure standard work/best practices are documented and in place;\nSupport and encourage an innovative and creative problem-solving environment;\nParticipate in supervisory and management meetings as required;\nDevelop and implement tools for enabling a smooth daily operation of all processes.\nWhat You Need:\nBachelor of Science degree in Engineering preferred or similar experience (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or other engineering discipline (Master’s degree preferred);\nA minimum of 2 years management experience;\nMust be able to work with other engineering groups to solve complex issues;\nExperience managing and mentoring engineers and technicians;\nDemonstrated Leadership skills including excellent supervisory, communication (both verbal and written), organizational and reasoning skills;\nPrior experience in program management of large-scale projects involving multiple engineering disciplines and cross functional involvement;\nPrior experience in at least 3 of the following manufacturing processes: mechanical assembly, electronics soldering and assembly, epoxy encapsulation applications, ceramic-to-metal sealing, tracer gas leak testing, machining, welding and high voltage testing.\nExperience with the formal qualification of systems to industry standards in defense safety systems;\nAbility to multitask managing multiple projects at the same time;\nAble to quickly gain the confidence and cooperation of others;\nAt least 5 years experience in a manufacturing and/or regulatory environment;\nProven ability to develop and implement strategic and tactical plans;\nCustomer-focused manager with demonstrated ability to schedule, forecast and meet deadlines;\nBeliever and driver of continuous improvement activities that will deploy Lean methodology and Six Sigma quality throughout the organization;\nCollaborative partner who is capable of and willing to work with peers and company leadership to foster an organization with World Class standard operating practices and quality systems;\nHigh sense of urgency and a pro-active approach to problem solving;\nSelf-assured individual who inspires trust and confidence.
