These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.\nWe are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.\nJob Description\nMechanical Engineer\nSummary\nThis Houston, Texas position will participate in a variety of technical and non-technical activities in support of the organization’s mechanical engineering needs including research and development, product and process design and redesign, sustaining engineering, and equipment and product testing.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nUse advanced, extensive knowledge of products, processes, and product application in the performance of job duties.\nPerform product research, design, development, and testing.\nPerform product redesign and enhancement.\nPerform production and test equipment design, development, and testing.\nPerform sustaining engineering.\nParticipate in manufacturing process improvement activities.\nPrepare and present proposals, statements of work, technical reports, etc.\nProvide technical support to manufacturing departments.\nPerform day-to-day technical and non-technical activities.\nAssigned to lead and direct engineering projects.\nCoordinate and direct other members of the engineering staff on assigned engineering projects.\nMay be assigned as a mentor to develop junior engineering staff members.\nRespond to inquiries or complaints from internal production departments, vendors, and customers.\nParticipate in Company Quality and Safety systems\nFollow all Trade Compliance policies\nPerform all other duties requested, directed, or assigned.\nRequirements:\nEducation and Experience:\nBS(or higher) Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Degree\n3-5 years related mechanical engineering experience (as described above)\nKnowledge of deployable marine seismic data acquisition equipment\n Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documentation, technical specifications, drawings, financial reports, and legal documents.\nAbility to apply engineering knowledge to support design, development, implementation, and operation activities.\nAbility to review, evaluate and analyze technical designs.\nAbility to prepare, review and evaluate technical documentation, specifications, test plans and procedures.\nAbility to diagnose and troubleshoot technical matters.\nKnowledge of engineering testing - including debugging, design, and DFT (design for test).\nKnowledge of deployable marine seismic data acquisition equipment\nGood English communication skills.\nAbility to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of the organizations and with customers.\nSelf-starter with ability to work with limited supervision.\nProficient with MS Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), ERP systems (preferably IFS), and ability to work efficiently with engineering drawing and modeling packages (preferably SolidWorks, PDMPro, AutoCAD 2D). Mechanical Finite Element. Preferably SolidWorks Simulation.\nKnowledge of change control practices. Ability to follow engineering change control processes.\nKnowledge of Trade Compliance classifications (preferably EAR & ITAR). Ability to follow Trade Compliance documentation and labeling requirements. Trade Compliance classification experience is beneficial.\nAbility to effectively present information to employees, managers, and customer representatives.\nExcellent project management skills.\nAbility/willingness to develop/coach/train junior engineers and technicians.\nOther Qualifications\nAbility to research, comprehend and retain job related information and instructions.\nAbility to concentrate and focus for extended periods of time on technical/engineering work.\nAbility to frequently work at a computer performing data entry, calculations, technical documentation and drawings, engineering modeling, and extracting data for extended periods of time.\nAbility to frequently utilize sophisticated math and engineering problem solving skills/techniques.\nAbility to handle multiple and competing priorities/tasks.\nAbility to work in production areas, engineering test areas, and with tools, machinery, and equipment which may include pressure chambers and tensioning devices.\nOperate test equipment such as multimeters, isolation resistance meters, and oscilloscopes.\nRegularly required to sit, stand, or be mobile throughout the facility.\nAbility to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.\nSpecific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.\nFrequently uses computer and occasionally operates office equipment (phone, printers, copiers, etc.)\nFrequently communicates with customers, managers, employees, and suppliers.
