If you’re mission-driven to globally collaborate on solutions that can change the battlefield and save lives, we invite you to explore our current opportunities.\nJob Summary:\nThe Teledyne FLIR manufacturing facility in Freeport, PA makes optical components that go into thermal imaging cameras, gimbals, scopes, and other military driven products. We are looking to hire an Optical Machine Technician to join our team, initially working 1st shift hours during training and then 2nd or 3rd shift hours after training. This position will teach you the necessary skills to run various machines that are used to make and measure the optics used in Teledyne FLIR products. There will be an opportunity to get cross trained on various/multiple machines.\nJob Duties:\nOperate various machines including diamond turning, conventional polishing, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) polishers and grinders, and Magnetorheological Finishing (MRF). \nPerform various functions associated with the fabrication of optical components such as profiling, cutting, milling, grinding, beveling, blocking, polishing, edging, cleaning and testing using appropriate machines and equipment.\nUse a variety of metrology and inspection tools to test and inspect optical components for accuracy and quality.\nRead and understand blueprints and technical drawings.\nFollow appropriate safety and equipment maintenance procedures.\nRequirements:\nAble and willing to work 1st shift hours during training and then transition to 2nd or 3rd shift hours.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent education.\nMachining experience strongly preferred.\nOptical manufacturing experience a plus/preferred.\nExperience using basic shop tools such as calipers, micrometers, drop gauges preferred.\nExperience performing visual inspections of small parts for defects strongly preferred.\nExperience handling delicate parts/pieces throughout a manufacturing process strongly preferred. Basic math skills.\nAble to lift 20 pounds occasionally.\nAble to grip, grasp, and work with hands on products repetitively.\nAble to follow direction and coaching from others.\nAble to work with minimal supervision.\nApplicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.\nTeledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
