These markets include aerospace and defense, factory automation, air and water quality environmental monitoring, electronics design and development, oceanographic research, deepwater oil and gas exploration and production, medical imaging and pharmaceutical research.\nWe are looking for individuals who thrive on making an impact and want the excitement of being on a team that wins.\nJob Description\nCompany Overview\nTeledyne e2v is a global leader in specialised components and subsystems for innovative solutions in medical, science, aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. The imaging sensors developed and tested at the Chelmsford site have been used on humanities most important space imaging missions. These include the Hubble Telescope, Keplar, GAIA, Mars Rovers, New Horizons, and Rosetta to name but a few.\nSpace Imaging is expanding its portfolio of projects to develop Front End Electronics (FEE) systems for Space applications. The systems will include a CMOS detector and FEE as a complete system. The new systems require high quality FPGA designs coupled with high speed hardware designs to operate in Space with high reliability for 5-year long missions or longer.\nPosition Summary and Responsibilities\nTeledyne e2v are looking for an Electronics Engineer to join their Team. The engineer will work in multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver test equipment and FEE solutions. Doing so will require acquiring an intimate knowledge of how our current and new devices operate. We are happy to accept applicants with either an electrical hardware or FPGA bias, and the job role is open to all levels of engineering seniority within the electronics team.\nFor applicants with a FPGA bias, we need a practical ability to write FPGA code and drive new FPGA development for the next generation of FEE products for space. Existing FPGA designs are typically produced using VHDL using Microchip Libero and Xilinx Vivado. The engineer would work on both FPGA design and verification, including the design and step-up of test benches.\nFor applications with an electrical hardware bias, we need an engineer to engage with the entire life cycle. This is from requirements review, through to schematic design, layout, board testing, and system level verification.\nThe Engineer will provide bid and business development support in collaboration with other team members. This level of support will include reviewing and specifying technical proposals, conducting trade-off analyses and supplying estimates for effort and material cost.\nEssential Experience\nFor applicants with a FPGA bias:\nIndustrial design of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) in VHDL language.\nUse of Microchip Libero and/or Xilinx Vivado design environments.\nFunctional verification using self-checking test benches and simulation.\nTiming verification using timing constraints and analysis.\nGenerate solutions, estimates, and define individual tasks for FPGA product delivery.\nAuthoring required documentation, including requirements specifications, detailed design documents, technical reports, test specifications, user manuals, work instructions, etc.\nUse of electronic test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyser)\nYou will be responsible for end-to-end FPGA development, maintenance, and lifecycle to achieve project goals to the required level of quality. You will work closely with Software, Electronics and Systems Engineers to architect solutions to meet customer requirements.\nFor applicants with an Electronics bias:\nRespond rapidly to equipment issues using your electronics knowledge and experience. Working to ensure that a timely repair is carried out, and clear progress updates are provided to the production teams.\nWhen solving complex issues on existing equipment, lead cross functional teams within Teledyne and external engineers, recording actions and minutes of meetings.\nFull PCB design for space applications using Altium, including component selection, schematic capture, analysis, documentation, stack-up definition, and administration of external layout activity.\nPreparation and presentation of concepts and designs that meet the requirements specifications, driven both by internal and external customer needs. Maintain and update compliance verification matrix with respect to electrical requirements.\nCapturing detailed system architecture by way of interface diagrams and charts; using them to embellish lifecycle documentation to navigate through gate reviews and progress the development efficiently.\nPreparing and presenting all necessary documentation relevant to the electrical design for gate reviews, both internal and external. The engineer will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively to all stakeholders.\nTaking a strong lead with verification and testing of electronics, and preparation of well-structured and clear associated documentation. \nSoldering and associated tasks for in-house PCB population.\nAdvantageous Skills & Experience\nPrevious experience in design for Spaceflight/Aerospace/Defense.\nWorking knowledgeable of ECSS standards and development processes.\nKnowledge of PCB design approaches required when dealing with Hi-Speed circuitry.\nHigh speed (Gigabit) transceiver interfaces.\nFPGA design techniques for high reliability and radiation environments.\nRequirement verification using UVVM test bench methodology.\nWorking knowledge of SpaceWire and RMAP/CCSDS protocols.\nImage handling and processing.\nExperience with Version Control and Issue tracking Software.\nDeveloping Integration test software and scripts.\nDDR3/4 memory and AXI interfaces.\nBenefits:\nSite is located in Chelmsford, a growing and vibrant city surrounded by countryside with excellent transport links to London (40 minutes by train to Liverpool street) and Stansted (45 minutes by bus).\nLocation of site is beside a beautiful park, with excellent walking and cycling routes.\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays as standard - with the opportunity to purchase up to 5 days additional leave.\nFree on-site parking and secure area for motorcycles and bicycles\nThe company participates in an electric Car scheme, offering fantastic monthly leasing rates with salary sacrifice.\nCompetitive pension scheme with up to 6% company contribution.\nFree tea and coffee from vending machines on site.\nMedicash health plan to help cover your everyday healthcare needs.\nCycle to work scheme\n4x Salary Life Assurance\nNumerous discounts with major retailers as part of our flexible benefits package.\nThe site has its own football pitch, which holds regular company tournaments.\nSeason ticket discounts on Greater Anglia Trains.\nChristmas shutdown ensures that you get time off during the festive break.\nFlexible start and finish times - 37 hour week and core hours are between 9:00am and 15:30.\nSupport your professional development with a paid membership to a relevant professional body.\nAccess to mentors and training - explore the vast training library on Teledyne University!\nThe company has a culture that is friendly and welcoming.\nThe above role profile is not meant to be an exhaustive list and duties within areas of responsibilities will be expected to change to meet the changing needs of our business.\nTeledyne and all of our employees are committed to conducting business with the highest ethical standards.
