Job Description

Teledyne Micropac is looking for a Program Manager, New Product Introduction.

The Program Manager, New Product Introduction (NPI), is responsible for leading cross-functional teams in the development, qualification, and successful launch of new high-reliability aerospace and defense products. This position drives projects from concept through production release, ensuring technical, schedule, cost, quality, and customer requirements are achieved. The Program Manager serves as the primary interface between engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, customers, and suppliers while managing program risks, product readiness, qualification activities, and successful transition into production. Essential duties to include but not limited to:

What you'll do

  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept, proposal, and requirements definition through design, qualification, production release, and lifecycle transition.
  • Manage and direct the execution of program objectives to ensure technical, schedule, cost, quality, and customer requirements are achieved.
  • Lead cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) consisting of Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and Business Development personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders regarding program status, risks, deliverables, and technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans, schedules, resource requirements, budgets, and milestone tracking systems.
  • Coordinate product development activities including requirements review, design reviews, risk assessments, qualification planning, manufacturing readiness, and production release.
  • Drive timely resolution of technical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain issues that may impact program objectives.
  • Identify, assess, manage, and mitigate technical, schedule, cost, manufacturing, and supply chain risks throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Develop corrective action plans when deviations from established plans occur and escalate issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Lead phase-gate reviews including requirements reviews, design reviews, qualification readiness reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, and release-to-production reviews.
  • Coordinate environmental, electrical, mechanical, reliability, and customer qualification activities required for product acceptance and release.
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Testability (DFT), cost reduction, yield improvement, and production optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, pilot production activities, process qualifications, and transition of products into sustained manufacturing.
  • Monitor and analyze program performance using schedule, cost, risk, and technical metrics. Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting to senior management.
  • Perform schedule and cost variance analysis, including Earned Value Management (EVM) principles where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, contract obligations, AS9100, ITAR/EAR, DFARS, military specifications, and company policies and procedures.
  • Allocate and manage program budgets including labor, materials, outside services, travel, and qualification testing expenses.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and effective communication among cross-functional team members while resolving conflicts and removing obstacles.
  • Ensure successful completion and closure of programs, including documentation, lessons learned, and transition to sustaining operations.
  • Support proposal development activities, project planning efforts, Basis of Estimates (BOEs), business cases, and product roadmaps.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and exemplify the mission, vision, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Occasional travel to customer, supplier, and partner locations as required.

What you need

  • Proven experience leading new product development and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept through production release.
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycles, phase-gate processes, and product launch methodologies.
  • Experience managing technically complex aerospace, defense, electronics, semiconductor, microelectronics, optoelectronic, or high-reliability manufacturing programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct organizational authority.
  • Experience planning and executing product qualification activities, including environmental, electrical, mechanical, and reliability testing.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing readiness, process qualification, production transfer, and supply chain integration.
  • Experience with risk management, issue resolution, and corrective action planning throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of program management tools including Microsoft Project, scheduling systems, and resource planning tools.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), cost tracking, variance analysis, and financial forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, EAR, DFARS, and military/aerospace product development requirements.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, project estimation, budget planning, and contract execution.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, negotiation, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related technical discipline - required
  • Minimum of 7 years of program management, project leadership, product development, engineering, or related experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, semiconductor, microelectronics, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments - required
  • Experience leading cross-functional product development teams and managing new product introduction activities - required
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, executive leadership, engineers, manufacturing personnel, and technical stakeholders - required
  • Demonstrated experience managing program schedules, budgets, risks, and customer deliverables - required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and program management tools - required
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail - required
