You will operate at the centre of a cross-functional team, connecting customer needs, technical delivery, commercial commitments, operations and supply chain performance.\nYou will own programmeoutcomes, build trusted relationships,and create the conditions for multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safely, predictably,and profitably\nKey Responsibilities\nLead programmesacross ourNew Product Introduction (NPI)lifecycle, from bid and requirements definition through design, development, qualification, production readiness, and transition to full-rate production.\n\nCreate and maintainintegrated plans, milestones, budgets, forecastsand resource assumptions, using evidence to drive priorities and decisions.\n\nCoordinate multi-disciplinary teams spanning optical, mechanical, electronics, systems, test, manufacturing engineering, quality, procurement, operations, financeand commercial functions.\n\nIdentifyand manage risks, issues, opportunities and changes, developing practical mitigation, recoveryand contingency plans.\n\nManage customer and internal stakeholder interfaces, maintainingalignment on requirements, deliverables, contractual obligationsand expectations.\n\nSupport business winning activity, including bid planning, estimating, proposal development, reviewand handover into delivery.\n\nManage commercial and financial performance, including budget control, cost impacts, change requestsand progress against business objectives.\n\nSupport a controlled transition into manufactureand business-as-usual operations, ensuring programmeoutputs are ready for repeatable delivery.\n\nContribute to continuous improvement of programmemanagement methods, tools, standardsand team capability.\n\nPersonal Specification\nWe value relevant capability and evidence of delivery. Your experience may have been built through programme/ project management, engineering, operations,or another customer-facing technical environment.\nEssential experience and capability\nExperience leading projects or programmesinvolving complex products, technology, engineeringor manufacturing.\n\nAbility to bring together cross-functional contributors, establishclear ownershipand maintain momentum against agreed outcomes.\n\nPractical competence in planning, schedule management, cost control, risk and issue management, change controland status reporting.\n\nConfidence working with customers and senior stakeholders, including communicating difficult messages clearly and constructively.\n\nCommercial awareness and an understanding of how scope, schedule, cost, risk, qualityand contractual commitments interact.\n\nAn organised, proactiveand diligent approach, with the judgement to work through ambiguity and competing priorities.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor detail to technical, operationaland executive audiences.\n\nDesirable experience\nExperience in defence, aerospace, photonics, electro-optics, precision manufacturing,or another highly regulatedsector.\n\nExperience ofNew Product Introduction, product development, technology development,or transfer into manufacture.\n\nExperience supporting tenders, bids, estimates, customer change requestsor contract delivery.\n\nWorking knowledge of production planning, MRP/ERP, procurement, inventory, operations,andsupply chain management.\n\nExperience managing domestic and export customers or working across international teams and supply chains.\n\nA recognisedproject or programmemanagement qualification, such as APM or PRINCE2, or equivalent demonstrable practice.\n\nA technical, engineering, science, businessor project management qualification.
