As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have responsibility for the mechanical architecture of parts and assemblies used in robotics applications. Leveraging your experience in the design of complex electromechanical systems, you will contribute to the development of sophisticated and innovative new products for the unmanned defense and security marketplace.\nTraversing difficult terrain, manipulating explosives, and autonomously navigating unexplored territory are all in a day’s work for our suite of robots. The Unmanned Ground Systems Team develops the solutions that make this possible. You will provide mechanical engineering support to design teams engaged in the development and manufacture of robotic systems. Through application of skills in 3D CAD design you will complete mechanical layouts and detailed part design. You will develop product system test methods, including setting up, conducting, analyzing and clearly documenting results of prototype and product testing. You will utilize analytical tools to select optimal architecture and verify that subsystems meet design intent. Finally, you will support methodical root cause analysis and rapid resolution of design and development issues.\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:\nApply technical knowledge and skills in mechanical systems to the analysis, development, design, integration, testing, and production of unmanned ground systems. \nInvestigate and resolve mechanical issues found within our systems. \nApply formal mechanical engineering best practices and processes. \nSupport the continuous improvement of existing products. \nSpecify materials to be chemically compatible with the appropriate environment. \nResearch new technologies to solve unique engineering problems. \nWork with cross functional teams comprising the disciplines of electrical, software, systems, manufacturing, and operations. \nRequired Experience\nBSME or higher from an accredited college or university. \n5+ years of relevant experience developing electromechanical systems. \nExperience with 3D CAD package. \nProficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. \nDemonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and meet aggressive goals. \nStrong written and oral communication skills (specs, test plans, reports, white papers, etc.). \nExperience with Thermal Design and Analysis.\nKnowledge of injection molding, CNC machined parts and sheet metal part design.\nPreferred Experience\nMSME from an accredited college or university.\nTechnical experience in a robotics related field. \nProficiency with Creo Parametric 3D CAD software. \nExperience with analysis software. \nKnowledge of injection molding, CNC machined parts and sheet metal part design. \nDesign and development of rugged, reliable systems for military applications. \nASME drafting standards, dimensional management methods and ASME Y14.5-2009 GD&T standard. \nWell versed in rapid prototyping methods \nExperience with Product Lifecycle Management tools (PTC Windchill 10.1 or newer) \nSmall mechanism design, especially gears, bearings, wheels, linkages, etc. \nKinematics & dynamics analysis methods. \nStructural design, stress & fatigue analysis with Creo Simulate or ANSYS. \nApplicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.\nSalary Range:\n$90,800.00-$121,100.000The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
