We are unable to hire Green Card Holders, individuals who need a work visa, are currently on a work visa, or individuals who will require work visa sponsorship in the future. **\nJob Summary\nThe Sr. Linux Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain applications and embedded software for advanced analytical instrumentation systems. This role spans the full software development lifecycle and requires expertise in Linux-based embedded systems, application development, instrument control, and software architecture for complex scientific products.\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications and embedded systems throughout the software development lifecycle.\nDevelop software solutions ranging from instrument control and user interfaces to data processing and analytical algorithms.\nImplement innovative user interfaces, data analysis capabilities, and instrument troubleshooting and debugging\nSupport new product development and sustain existing products through troubleshooting, enhancements, and defect resolution.\nCollaborate closely with engineering, scientific, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.\nParticipate in software design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field strongly preferred; equivalent experience considered.\n8+ years of software development experience.\nHands-on experience with embedded Linux development, including Linux system configuration, Bash scripting, Yocto/BitBake, Linux kernel and driver development, device trees, U-Boot, software package management, and deployment/update frameworks such as SWUpdate.\nStrong proficiency in C#, .NET, and object-oriented software design.\nExperience with Git and collaborative software development practices.\nExperience developing software for embedded systems and distributed architectures.\nStrong understanding of multi-threaded programming, debugging, and software security principles.\nProgramming experience in C and C++; Rust experience is a plus.\nExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Blazor, WebSockets, and GraphQL.\nExperience with Docker or other containerization technologies.\nExperience with instrumentation control, scientific instruments, or mass spectrometry systems.\nExperience working in an Agile development environment.\nFamiliarity with electro-mechanical systems and hardware integration.\nExperience using Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) in a development environment.\nApplicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.\nAbout Teledyne FLIR Defense\nJoin Teledyne FLIR Defense, where we're dedicated to supporting critical missions with an exciting range of cutting-edge technologies.
