The role collaborates with Design Engineering to support the release of new lens products, estimates manufacturing costs, establishes time standards, and recommends tooling and process requirements for new and existing product lines. This position also maintains accurate manufacturing records and reporting systems in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and Global Trade Compliance requirements. The work combines hands-on electro-mechanical activities, technical problem-solving, creativity, and attention to detail across office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities:\nDevelop and improve manufacturing processes for the production of infrared lenses.\nCreate, review, and update assembly and test instructions and checklists to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.\nEvaluate material and production defects and partner with Quality to develop and implement corrective actions.\nAddress out-of-flow materials and provide technical support to Production and Quality.\nContinuously improve manufacturing processes, methods, equipment, tooling, and training.\nCollaborate with Equipment Maintenance and external vendors to optimize equipment performance and maintain production efficiency.\nTrain production technicians on new processes and periodically audit established processes for compliance and effectiveness.\nPartner with Mechanical and Tooling Design teams to develop and implement devices that improve production processes.\nEvaluate, justify, specify, and procure new equipment to support development and production requirements.\nApply Lean and 5S manufacturing principles to promote operational efficiency and continuous improvement.\nCollaborate with Engineering to ensure accurate specifications are used for product evaluation and validation.\nPerform environmental testing of opto-mechanical systems using thermal chambers and vibration testing equipment.\nEducation and Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline\n10+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience\nSix Sigma Green Belt certification\nExperience with SolidWorks or similar mechanical design software\nJob Qualifications:\nPrior experience with imaging optical design principles\nPrior experience with Infra optical systems and radiometry\nLean/5S training and experience required\nStrong knowledge of manufacturing methods, tooling, equipment, process controls, and production systems\nDemonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex manufacturing and production issues\nKnowledge of Lean manufacturing and 5S principles and practices\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills\nStrong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook\nApplicants must be either a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, legal permanent resident, asylee, refugee or must be eligible to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control license from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce.\nSalary Range:\n$120,300.00-$160,400.000The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
