In addition, they will provide mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities to team members.\nThis is a highly technical role, focused on using embedded SW development experience to successfully manage this team.\nMain Responsibilities\nProvide technical leadership and guidance to the team members, ensuring that best SW development practices are followed, and technical challenges are effectively addressed.\nDevelop and present SW development status reports, highlighting accomplishments, challenges, and risks.\nStrategize and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful SW development outcomes.\nUphold and promote the company's culture, values, and standards within the team. Create an inclusive and positive working environment where every team member can thrive.\nLead a geographically dispersed team, promoting effective communication, collaboration, and alignment across locations.\nDrive SW automation initiatives and champion quality assurance practices to enhance software development processes and product reliability.\nOrganize team-building events, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster team cohesion and professional growth.\nEducation and Experience Required\nBachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering, or a related field.\nMinimum of 10 years of management experience in a software development environment, preferably with embedded software focus.\nStrong background in embedded software development and proficiency in Agile methodologies.\nProven leadership skills with a track record of building and managing successful software development teams.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration and team motivation.\nTechnical expertise in software engineering practices, including design, development, and testing.\nExperience working with geographically dispersed teams.\nFamiliarity with automation practices and quality assurance methods.\nStrategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.\nStrong organizational and planning skills.\nProficiency in working with both public and private cloud environments.\nFamiliarity with CloudOps and FinOps practices.\nFamiliarity with setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines.\nDecision Making and Supervision\nIn this role, the individual will wield substantial influence over the trajectory of the Telesat LightSpeed program.
