The successful candidate will leverage expertise in Java 17/21, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cloud-Native technologies, and Kubernetes to deliver high-performance, resilient solutions while supporting strategic initiatives across Telstra's engineering landscape.\nKey Roles & Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable Java applications and Microservices.\n\nBuild and enhance REST APIs and API Gateway integrations.\n\nTroubleshoot complex production and application issues.\n\nDevelop high-quality code with robust automated testing.\n\nWork with Kafka, SQL, and NoSQL databases to deliver reliable solutions.\n\nSupport CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and cloud-native platforms.\n\nParticipate in solution design, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making.\n\nMentor junior developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes.\n\nEssential Skills\n10+ years of Java development experience.\n\nStrong hands-on experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot 3.x/4.x.\n\nProven experience building Microservices, REST APIs, and API Gateways.\n\nStrong understanding of JVM internals, memory management, garbage collection, multithreading, and performance tuning.\n\nExperience with Kafka, SQL, and NoSQL databases (preferably Couchbase).\n\nHands-on experience with JUnit, automated testing, and SonarQube/code quality tools.\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and cloud-native environments.\n\nStrong troubleshooting, technical design, and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to support, deploy, and maintain production applications.\n\nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and mentoring skills.\n\nAbility to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.\n\nDesired Skills\nPython scripting or development experience.\n\nExperience in telecommunications or large-scale enterprise environments.\n\nExposure to cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.\n\nAustralian Citizen preferred.\n\nIdeal Candidate\nA highly experienced Senior Java Developer with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, and Cloud-Native technologies.
