You will own the technical delivery of cloud-native solutions from design through production, writing high-quality code, defining infrastructure as code, and applying AWS best practices for security, scalability, and cost efficiency. Working alongside architects, product teams, and client stakeholders, you will turn complex business problems into reliable, well-engineered systems. Experience with Amazon Connect and contact center solutions is a plus, but your depth in the AWS serverless landscape is what matters most. This is an opportunity to lead impactful client engagements, mentor fellow engineers, and help shape engineering standards across our Cloud Engineering practice.\nResponsibilities\nServerless Application Development\nDesign and build serverless applications. Develop scalable, event-driven services using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, and DynamoDB that power mission-critical client experiences.\n\nBuild and manage APIs. Design, implement, and document secure, well-versioned RESTful and GraphQL APIs (API Gateway, AppSync) with strong attention to performance, authentication, and developer experience.\n\nWrite high-quality, maintainable code. Deliver clean, tested code in Python or Node.js/TypeScript, applying strong software engineering practices including unit and integration testing, code reviews, and clear documentation.\n\nCloud Engineering & Operational Excellence\nAutomate infrastructure and deployments. Define and manage environments with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, SAM, or Terraform) and build CI/CD pipelines that enable fast, safe, and repeatable releases.\n\nChampion security, reliability, and observability. Apply AWS Well-Architected principles, IAM least privilege, encryption, and secrets management, and instrument systems with CloudWatch, X-Ray, and structured logging to ensure production-grade quality.\n\nOptimize performance and cost. Tune serverless workloads for latency, concurrency, and cost, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvement after go-live.\n\nClient Partnership & Technical Leadership\nPartner with clients and internal teams. Participate in discovery and design sessions, translate requirements into technical solutions, provide accurate estimates, and communicate progress and risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nLead and mentor engineers. Guide junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical direction, and contribute reusable patterns, accelerators, and engineering standards to the practice.\n\nIntegrate with enterprise ecosystems. Connect AWS solutions with third-party and enterprise platforms such as CRM, ticketing, and contact center systems, including Amazon Connect where applicable.\n\nQualifications\n7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 4+ years building and operating production applications on AWS.\n\nDeep, hands-on expertise with AWS serverless services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, and S3.\n\nStrong programming skills in Python or Node.js/TypeScript, with a proven track record of designing and building scalable APIs and event-driven architectures.\n\nProficiency with infrastructure as code (AWS CDK, CloudFormation, SAM, or Terraform) and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.\n\nStrong understanding of AWS security best practices, including IAM, Cognito, KMS, Secrets Manager, and network security fundamentals.\n\nExperience with monitoring, logging, and tracing in distributed systems using CloudWatch, X-Ray, or similar tools.\n\nSolid grasp of software design principles, testing strategies, and performance optimization in cloud-native environments.\n\nExcellent communication skills and comfort working directly with clients in a consulting or professional services environment.\n\nAWS certifications (Developer Associate, Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) are a strong asset.\n\nNice to have: experience with Amazon Connect, contact center solutions, or conversational AI services such as Amazon Lex, Amazon Bedrock, or Amazon Q.\n\nAbility to travel occasionally to client locations.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nAt TELUS Digital, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
