In this role, you’ll be responsible for owning the design, evolution, and operational reliability of our Kubernetes control plane architecture, working closely with cross-functional partners to support business objectives while upholding our standards for excellence, collaboration, and impact.\nWhat You’ll Do\nPlatform Architecture & Strategy\nDesign and evolve Kubernetes control plane architecture across regions\n\nDefine and implement multi-tenant cluster models, including shared control planes, virtual cluster approaches (e.g., vcluster, Kamaji)\n\nDrive transition from standalone clusters to regionally managed platform models\n\nDefine standards for isolation boundaries, resource segmentation, policy enforcement\n\nPlatform Ownership & Operations\nOwn the reliability and behavior of Kubernetes platforms in production\n\nParticipate in on-call rotation and lead incident response\n\nDiagnose and resolve control plane instability, API server saturation, scheduling and resource contention issues\n\nEnsure consistent lifecycle management across clusters - provisioning, upgrades, scaling\n\nMulti-Region Scaling\nDesign and implement strategies for regional scaling, multi-data center cluster deployments\n\nEnsure consistent behavior and reliability across environments\n\nDefine cluster topology and failure domain strategies\n\nNetworking & Data Plane Integration\nDesign ingress and egress architectures at cluster level and regional level\n\nTroubleshoot and optimize pod-to-pod networking, north-south traffic flows, CNI behavior (Cilium preferred)\n\nCollaborate with network engineering on high-performance networking integration\n\nObservability & Reliability\nImprove observability across control plane components, cluster health and performance\n\nDefine and implement resilience strategies aligned with platform goals\n\nLead root cause analysis for production incidents\n\nCross-Team Collaboration\nWork closely with DevOps engineers (automation and CI/CD) and Infrastructure teams (compute, storage, networking)\n\nAlign Kubernetes platform design with underlying infrastructure capabilities\n\nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\n7+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or distributed systems\n\nDeep experience operating Kubernetes at scale in production environments\n\nExperience in CSP, hyperscale, or equivalent large-scale environments strongly preferred\n\nProven experience scaling Kubernetes across:\nMultiple clusters\n\nMultiple regions or data centers\n\nStrong understanding of Kubernetes internals:\nAPI server\n\nScheduler\n\nController manager\n\netcd\n\nExperience designing or evolving:\nControl plane architectures\n\nMulti-tenant cluster models\n\nTechnical Depth\nStrong Linux systems expertise\n\nDeep troubleshooting ability across:\nKubernetes\n\nContainer runtime\n\nNetworking stack\n\nExperience with CNI plugins (Cilium preferred)\n\nStrong understanding of:\nNetworking and traffic patterns\n\nResource isolation and scheduling\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with virtual cluster technologies (vcluster, Kamaji, or similar)\n\nExperience supporting GPU workloads in Kubernetes\n\nFamiliarity with:\nNUMA-aware scheduling\n\nTopology-aware workloads\n\nAwareness of RDMA and high-throughput networking environments\n\nExperience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)\n\nWhat We Offer\nStock Options\n\n100% paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for Employees\n\nCompany Health Savings Account Contributions\n\n100% paid Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance for Employees\n\nLife and Voluntary Supplemental Insurance Options\n\nOther Insurance Options, such as Pet & Legal Insurance\n\nVarious Supplementary Health Benefits, such as discounted Virtual Healthcare Appointments and Serious Illness Support\n\nFlexible Spending Account\n\n401(k)\n\nEmployee Assistance Program\n\nFlexible PTO\n\nPaid Holidays\n\nParental Leave\n\nOther In-Office Perks\n\nEqual Employment Opportunity\nTensorWave is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
