This role will own how we build, scale, and operate hypervisor infrastructure as we transition from traditional virtualization platforms toward a more flexible, CSP-aligned architecture based on KVM/QEMU and modern Linux primitives.\nThis is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on solving complex systems problems at scale.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign and implement a scalable virtualization platform capable of supporting high-density compute and GPU workloads\n\nLead the evolution from existing platforms (e.g., Proxmox) toward KVM/QEMU-based architectures\n\nDefine standards for VM lifecycle management (provisioning, scheduling, migration), performance isolation and resource allocation, failure domains and resilience strategies\n\nOptimize virtualization for high-performance workloads, including NUMA alignment, CPU pinning and scheduling, PCIe topology awareness, GPU passthrough and device assignment\n\nPartner closely with networking and storage teams to integrate high-throughput, networking (e.g., SR-IOV, RDMA), distributed and local storage systems\n\nBuild and improve automation for hypervisor deployment and configuration, image pipelines, cluster scaling and lifecycle management\n\nTroubleshoot deep system-level performance issues across compute, memory, storage, and network layers\n\nContribute to long-term platform architecture and infrastructure strategy\n\nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\n7+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, or platform engineering\n\nDeep experience with Linux-based virtualization, including:\nKVM/QEMU\n\nlibvirt or similar tooling\n\nStrong understanding of:\nCPU scheduling and NUMA architectures\n\nMemory management and performance tuning\n\nStorage I/O paths and performance characteristics\n\nExperience designing and operating virtualization platforms at scale (hundreds+ hosts)\n\nSolid networking fundamentals, including:\nLinux networking (bridges, bonding, VLANs)\n\nHigh-performance networking concepts\n\nExperience with infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, or similar)\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills across distributed systems\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in cloud or CSP environments (public or private)\n\nFamiliarity with:\nGPU workloads and passthrough (VFIO)\n\nSR-IOV and advanced NIC features\n\nExperience integrating virtualization with:\nKubernetes platforms\n\nBare metal provisioning systems (e.g., MAAS)\n\nExposure to distributed storage systems (e.g., Ceph, Weka, or similar)\n\nExperience working in high-performance or low-latency environments\n\nWhat We Offer\nStock Options\n\n100% paid Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance for Employees\n\nCompany Health Savings Account Contributions\n\n100% paid Short Term and Long Term Disability Insurance for Employees\n\nLife and Voluntary Supplemental Insurance Options\n\nOther Insurance Options, such as Pet & Legal Insurance\n\nVarious Supplementary Health Benefits, such as discounted Virtual Healthcare Appointments and Serious Illness Support\n\nFlexible Spending Account\n\n401(k)\n\nEmployee Assistance Program\n\nFlexible PTO\n\nPaid Holidays\n\nParental Leave\n\nOther In-Office Perks\n\nEqual Employment Opportunity\nTensorWave is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
