We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.\nWe are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to help build and scale the next generation of AI-powered solutions at Tenstorrent. This role is for a highly technical, hands-on engineer who can identify opportunities to replace manual processes with AI, automation, and agentic solutions, then take those solutions from concept through implementation, integration, deployment, and iteration.\nYou will work at the intersection of AI, software, infrastructure, automation, and systems integration. The ideal candidate has a strong Computer Science or engineering background and experience building and owning AI-enabled products, internal tools, automations, or technical solutions end to end.\nThis role is designed for someone who can hit the ground running, operate independently, and bring structure to ambiguous problems. You will partner directly with teams across Operations, Customer Success, IT, Data Infrastructure, AI Software to identify high-value internal workflows and deliver AI systems that scale across Tenstorrent. You will combine technical judgment, hands-on engineering and a strong understanding of internal users’ needs. Success will be measured by reliable systems, sustained adoption, and data-driven improvements to the processes they support.\nThis role is hybrid, based out of Santa Clara, CA.\nWe welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.\nWho You Are\nHands-on, technical problem solver who enjoys using AI, software, automation, and systems integration to solve complex problems and build practical solutions.\nHigh-agency and comfortable with ambiguity; able to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions constructively, make sound technical trade-offs, and drive progress with limited direction.\nStrong systems thinker who understands how AI, software, infrastructure, data, APIs/MCP/Connectors, and workflows fit together and can turn ideas into reliable, scalable solutions.\nComfortable operating in fast-moving startup or scale-up environments, taking significant ownership, navigating changing priorities and learning quickly.\nClear, humble, and adaptable communicator who works collaboratively across engineering, partner teams, and leadership.\nWhat We Need\nBachelor’s degree or higher in AI/ML Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with 5+ years of relevant technical experience.\nDemonstrated experience designing, building, and deploying AI-enabled applications or software systems, with hands-on contributions to code, architecture, evaluation, integration, and production readiness.\nStrong technical understanding of software architecture, APIs, system integration, data pipelines, infrastructure, and distributed systems, with hands-on experience in Python, SQL, Git, LLMs, AI/agentic frameworks, workflow automation, and AI coding agents/tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, n8n, Rovo, or similar.\nAbility to translate ambiguous operational needs into technical requirements and practical AI/software solutions, integrate them into existing systems, and debug complex implementation issues by reproducing failures, testing hypotheses, and driving blockers to resolution.\nExperience evaluating and operating AI systems in production, including assessing quality and failure modes using representative data, evaluation methods, production signals, and human judgment; understanding reliability, observability, security, privacy, data governance, performance, and cost; and turning learnings into reusable architectures, tooling, documentation, or technical guidance.\nWhat You Will Learn\nHow to turn repetitive, manual, and fragmented business processes into scaleable AI-forward products and automations. \nHow AI-native systems are selected, integrated, and deployed across complex hardware, software, infrastructure, and data environments.\nHow to monitor production AI systems and use quality, reliability, and usage signals to guide iteration.\nHow to develop reusable architectures and frameworks for agentic systems and AI-powered automation.\nCompensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets.
