With operations across the U.S. and globally, we are committed to safety, innovation, and quality while building products our customers depend on every day.\nSUMMARY:\nBrake press operators operate cutoff saws, shears, and brake press.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:\nOperates the brakepress\nReads a job specification to determine machine adjustments and material requirements\nSets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template\nPositions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade\nPushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine\nObserves machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction\nMeasures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation\nRemoves burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece\nPerforms minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces\nSets up and performs maintenance on fab and machine shop machines and performs burning work\nSelf-check work and inspect prior processes\nMeet production goals\nMaintain a clean and safe work area\nInitiate process improvements when able\nWork in close proximity to customer, as needed\nOperate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job\nAssist other team members and departments as needed\nOther duties as assigned\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent experience\nAbility to use basic hand and power tools\nAbility to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements\nAbility to work in a team environment\nAbility to maintain attendance within company guidelines\nAbility to retain and apply instructions\nPositive attitude\nWork overtime on short notice\nEmbrace change\nBasic computer skills\nBasic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division\nMust be detailed orientated\nAbility to read and understand truck specification documents\nAbility to communicate and understand in English\nAbility to work within safety guidelines\nMust be self-motivated\nMust be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeks\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. May be exposed to vibration.\nThe associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\n\nGeneral production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally.
