The Product Engineer will communicate required design changes of varying degrees of complexity by ensuring that performance parameters are met while meeting quality targets. This position is responsible for creation and maintenance of product designs. Primary duties include assisting in the completion of engineering design projects, production support, and continuous design improvements of products.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:\nDemonstrate commitment to Safety, lead by example.\nSelection and approval of hydraulic component type and specifications to meet system requirements.\nApply and demonstrate engineering design-best-practices and value engineering during project development.\nReview and approve mechanical design standards and specifications.\nCreate hydraulic schematics for complete system.\nWorking knowledge of principles and interpretation of FEA and CFD.\nEnsure design is in compliance with design criteria, standards and specifications as well as local codes and regulations.\nEnsure procurement packages are in compliance with design criteria, standards and specifications.\nFollow Project Management Process and Procedures.\nDevelop, implement, and maintain design standards, guides, and procedures.\nRespond to NCRs (Non-Compliance Reports).\nCommunicate change orders and execute change management processes.\nSupport operator and maintenance training.\nReview Equipment Technical Specifications, such as Specification and Mechanical Data Sheets (e.g. issued for Enquiry).\nProvide project technical support - familiarity with risk assessments, design reviews, constructability, HAZOP, etc.\nSupervise supplier design and control of supplier interface and the co-ordination of interfaces with other engineering disciplines.\nTechnical support for daily plant operations and field service by assuring that product performance parameters are met.\nProvide troubleshooting support for Technical Service.\nProvide hydraulic technical support for Test Engineering.\nMust be able to travel up to 15%, work overtime and occasional weekends, as required.\nJOB SPECIFICATIONS:\nBachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related degree.\n6 years minimum engineering experience in hydraulic system design in a heavy manufacturing environment by employing DFMA (Design For Manufacturing and Assembly).\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nThe candidate should be able to exhibit strong problem solving skills such as 6-Sigma or another structured methodology to solve complex problems.\nThe candidate should have working knowledge of electrical and controls systems to provide technical product support to manufacturing and field service.\nIt is important that candidates demonstrate work experience requiring multi-tasking capabilities in a “fast paced” work environment.\nA Master’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, experience working with hydraulic / electro-mechanical components or experience in the Mining Equipment / Heavy Construction Equipment Industries would be given special consideration.\nCandidate must be a self-starter, fast paced, but still highly detailed and accurate.
