This role is responsible for ensuring product quality across welding and machine shop operations, maintaining compliance with internal standards and industry requirements, and driving a culture of quality and accountability. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in welding and machining processes, along with proven leadership in a manufacturing quality environment.\nWhat you’ll do:\nLead and manage all quality functions for the Huron facility, including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly operations\nEnsure compliance with Terex quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry codes (AWS, ISO, etc.)\nEnsure compliance with welding quality requirements, including AWS D1.1, welder qualification, WPS adherence, and weld inspection standards\nOversee machine shop quality through inspection processes, dimensional verification, GD&T interpretation, and process capability monitoring\nDevelop and implement quality plans, control plans, inspection methods, and control strategies for manufacturing processes\nLead root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for quality issues, including weld defects and machining nonconformances\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and cost of poor quality (COPQ)\nPartner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to improve product quality and process capability\nLead internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits\nDevelop, coach, and lead the quality team, including inspectors, technicians, and engineers\nMonitor and report key quality metrics such as first-pass yield, defect rates, and customer complaints\nEnsure proper calibration of inspection equipment and adherence to measurement system standards\nWhat you’ll bring:\nMinimum Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n5+ years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment\nStrong working knowledge of welding processes and AWS D1.1 standards\nExperience with machine shop quality, including inspection techniques, GD&T, and precision measurement tools\nDemonstrated experience leading root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives\nPreferred Qualifications\nAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent welding certification\nExperience in heavy equipment, utility equipment, or truck body manufacturing\nCertification in Quality (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt)\nFamiliarity with ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management Systems\nExperience with robotic welding and automated machining processes\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nStrong expertise in welding and machining quality systems and processes\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and weld symbols\nEffective leadership and team development skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilities\nAbility to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal\nProficiency in quality tools (FMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA)\nWork Environment\nManufacturing environment with exposure to welding, machining, and assembly operations\nRegular presence on the shop floor required\nUse of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, and other required equipment\nTravel Requirements\nMinimal travel; occasional travel may be required for supplier visits, training, or audits\nSalary: The salary range for this position is $108,000 to $125,000 annually.
