In addition, the support covers application, system support and infrastructure.\nResponsibilities\nAs a Data Systems Engineer, your tasks will typically include:\nSpecification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users;\nAppropriate coordination and collaboration with any external community involved in the data system operations;\nDefine and oversee the evolution of the mission control systems in response to flight control team needs, software infrastructure and hardware evolution,\nLead the investigation and resolution of problems identified in the operational systems,\nTests and simulation campaign, and in the role of the software coordinator being part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches;\nProactively supporting the continual service delivery,\nSupport day-to-day incident management and response via an On-Call Service during normal working hours\nMaintenance of software such as SCOS-2000 based Mission Control Systems and/or related systems such as EDDS, EGOS-MPS, DARC or similar support.\nSupport to customers related to ground software systems development.\nSupport to the Flight Control Team and operations, participating in related meetings and long-term planning.\nThis is a full-time position to be located at Terma’s premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date on the 1st of July 2027.\nQualifications & Competencies\nApplicable experience in the provision of data systems engineering support is an advantage. Experience related to any of the Copernicus Sentinel missions is particularly desirable.\nIn addition to having a university degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics, or physics, you should be able to cover many of the following topics:\nIdeally you will have the following skills and experience:\nExperience in Software engineering methods and tools used in development of data processing systems\nDefinition, implementation, validation, and operation of software which applies the above solutions (using e.g., Unix/Linux scripting languages, C++, Java, Python).\nAbility to understand user needs in complex software systems\nKnowledge of Earth Observation Mission Control Systems\nKnowledge of SCOS-2000 and/or related systems such as EDDS, EGOS-MPS, DARC or similar\nA service-oriented attitude towards end users/operation customers is essential\nMedium/Advanced experience in Linux based systems\nDesirable skills include:\nFamiliarity with the ESOC environment.\nExperience with Data Systems engineering tasks.\nExperience dealing with external interfaces.\nFamiliarity with ITIL application management delivery\nExperience with the next generation of data systems such as EGS-CC-based systems.\nExperience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration.\nMulti-task efficiently; working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously.\nFluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. You will have the capability to work in teams, while at the same time being a self-starter, able to work independently with little supervision.\nDue to the variety of tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported, you should be able to quickly adapt to changes in assignments, manage tasks in an efficient way, and demonstrate a high degree of independence and autonomy. You must have excellent analytical skills, and be effective working within a small team, and have good presentation and communication skills.\nYou should be able to conduct all your activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, encouraging a friendly and collaborative working environment, demonstrating capabilities in applying principles, handling critical discourse, and be open to discussing and sharing solutions with others.
