The innovations we develop on Earth will lay the groundwork for the technologies that one day make settlement on Mars possible.\nJob Overview\nYou will be TerraFirma’s first in-house IT Field Technician, keeping our people, devices, and buildings running as we grow from about 45 to 150+ employees. This is a hands-on, on-site role: you’ll set up laptops and iPads for new hires, redeploy equipment, run network cable, and be the first stop when anyone at the office needs IT help.\nYou’ll work directly with our IT Director, who sets standards and owns infrastructure, while you make it happen on the ground every day. We care more about curiosity, reliability, and hands-on ability than years of experience, and we’ll train the right person on our systems and on cabling. Along the way, you’ll learn identity management, device management, and enterprise networking on the job.\nResponsibilities\nPrepare, set up, and hand off laptops, desktops, iPads, and peripherals for new employees, and walk them through first sign-in and the tools they’ll use\n\nWipe, reimage, and redeploy returned equipment, and retire devices at end of life\n\nEnroll devices in our mobile device management (MDM) platforms and confirm they report in correctly\n\nKeep hardware inventory accurate, including who has what, serial numbers, and spares, and receive and check incoming equipment orders\n\nOwn the IT help Slack channel, resolving what you can and escalating the rest to the IT Director\n\nTroubleshoot hardware, Wi-Fi, printer, sign-in, and app issues for Mac, Windows, iPad, and Linux users\n\nRun, terminate, label, and test Cat6/Cat6A network cable for new desks, rooms, and suites\n\nMount and connect Wi-Fi access points, cameras, and other network devices, and keep network closets and racks organized\n\nServe as the on-site point of contact for outside vendors, including low-voltage contractors, ISPs, and door access providers\n\nCarry out projects planned by the IT Director, such as device re-enrollments, office moves, and network upgrades\n\nDocument fixes and how-tos, spot recurring problems, and suggest improvements\n\nBasic Qualifications\nComfortable setting up and troubleshooting both Mac and Windows computers\n\nClear, friendly communication with non-technical coworkers, in person and over Slack\n\nOrganized and detail-oriented, with the habit of labeling, tracking serial numbers, and following checklists\n\nTakes ownership and follows through without being chased\n\nPreferred Skills & Experience\n1+ year in help desk, desktop support, field tech, or a similar hands-on role\n\nExperience running and terminating network cable, or other low-voltage work (cameras, alarms, access control)\n\nExposure to MDM tools, Google Workspace, Okta, or Slack administration\n\nFamiliarity with iPads/iOS and basic Linux\n\nBasic networking knowledge, including IP addresses, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and switches\n\nCompTIA A+ or Network+ certification, or working toward one\n\nAdditional Requirements\nMust be willing to work on site daily in Buda, TX\n\nAble to do physical work, including lifting up to 50 lb, working on ladders, and pulling cable through ceilings and walls\n\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally as needed;
