ABOUT TERRADEPTH

Terradepth is transforming how organizations collect, manage, analyze, and act on ocean data.

Our flagship software platform, Absolute Ocean, is a cloud-native ocean intelligence platform that brings together complex maritime and geospatial data, automates processing and analysis, and enables customers to make faster, better-informed decisions. Absolute Ocean Onboard extends these capabilities to the edge, supporting operations in disconnected, bandwidth-constrained, shipboard, and secure environments.

Terradepth serves Government, defense, intelligence, energy, infrastructure, survey, and other commercial customers operating in the Global maritime domain.

We move with Speed, Discipline, and Collaboration. We seek people who are humble enough to learn, confident enough to execute, and committed to measurable results.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Terradepth is seeking an experienced, hands-on Product Manager to serve as the critical connective tissue between Business Development, Marketing, Engineering, and Executive Leadership. Reporting to the VP, Product & AI, you will run the product roadmap, backlog, and requirements across our cloud SaaS platform (Absolute Ocean), edge-computing deployments (Absolute Ocean Onboard), and integrated ocean hardware/autonomy capabilities.

We are looking for a disciplined product leader who starts from market problems and turns them into actionable, traceable requirements. You will work side-by-side with sales and BD to engage customers, look past immediate surface asks to uncover true underlying needs, and prioritize features that either generate revenue or unlock key new markets. If you thrive in a dynamic, high-growth startup environment, excel at balancing trade-offs under resource constraints, and bring formal product management rigor, this role is for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Connective Tissue & Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary hub aligning Business Development, Marketing, Engineering, and Executive leadership. Collect ground-truth market feedback from BD and clients, translate marketing vision and design philosophies into clear engineering context, and ensure outward-facing marketing materials accurately reflect true software/hardware capabilities.
  • Single Source of Truth for Roadmaps & Backlogs: Aggressively groom the product roadmap across hardware, software, edge, and hardware/autonomy integrations, keeping them current and visible to every team.
  • Market Problem Translation & Requirements Definition: Engage directly with targeted end users and customers to identify pervasive problems. Translate customer pain points into clear, traceable product requirements, use cases, user stories, rationale, and acceptance criteria while preserving the intuitive UI/UX that sets Absolute Ocean apart.
  • Executive & Engineering Alignment: Facilitate tight alignment between engineering leadership and product management on milestones, schedules, and technical tradeoffs. Prepare data-backed trade studies and decision briefs with the VP, based on market trends, customer impact, and company goals.
  • Industry Involvement & Customer Engagement: Participate alongside BD in industry conferences, customer meetings, and field demonstrations to gather firsthand market accounts. Distinguish essential market signals from noise to continuously refine product strategy.
  • Marketing & Operational Coordination: Collaborate with marketing and test engineering teams to coordinate operational media assets (e.g., UUV ocean operation filming during test milestones) and align product UI palettes with company design guidelines.
  • Pragmatic Prioritization: Run the prioritization process ("herding the cats") across competing stakeholder demands, weigh initiatives by revenue and strategic-market impact, and bring recommended trade-offs to the VP.
  • Customer Support & Release Operations: Own the product side of customer support, including the ticket workflow and knowledge base in HubSpot, and write release notes and customer-facing product updates. Handle day-to-day administration of product vendors and tools.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of product management experience leading B2B SaaS products (this is not an entry-level PM role).
  • Experience working with products that integrate hardware/appliances, robotics, autonomous systems, or edge computing.
  • Proven track record of translating complex customer requests into root-cause problem statements, traceable requirements, and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Hands-on expertise and fluency with modern agile tools, specifically Jira, Jira Product Discovery (JPD), and Confluence.
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to accelerate product research, requirements development, analysis, prototyping, or product operations, with an understanding of how AI-enabled features are specified, tested, and evaluated.
  • Ability to evaluate product investments using customer value, revenue potential, strategic importance, technical effort, and opportunity cost.
  • Startup mindset: Demonstrated ability to make pragmatic trade-offs with limited time, budget, and resources while remaining flexible and collaborative.
  • Strong customer-facing presence with the ability to engage directly alongside sales teams and conduct customer discovery interviews.
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% for customer visits, trade shows, field tests, and operational demonstrations.
  • U.S. citizenship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with defense, intelligence, or U.S. Government acquisition and customer sets.
  • Background or familiarity with geospatial data, GIS, oceanography, bathymetry, maritime domain awareness, or remote sensing.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience delivering both cloud-native SaaS and edge/disconnected hardware solutions.
  • Strong credibility with technical engineering teams as well as executive sales and leadership teams.
  • Formal Product Management Training & Certification (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, SVPG, or equivalent) demonstrating a structured methodology for market research, requirements definition, and prioritization.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Creation and maintenance of a clear, prioritized product roadmap in JPD serving as the single source of truth across the organization.
  • Timely delivery of clear, high-quality product requirements that enable engineering execution with minimal friction or re-work.
  • High alignment and low tension between engineering, product, marketing, sales, and executive leadership.
  • Successful launch of features and capabilities directly tied to revenue growth and new market entry.
  • Regular, structured market intelligence feeds generated from customer interactions and industry event participation.

THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You are a pragmatic product leader, an empathetic listener, and a disciplined operator.
  • You know how to look past what a customer asks for to uncover what they truly need.
  • You have the technical depth and credibility to debate trade-offs with engineers, the commercial sense to partner effectively with sales, and the clarity to deliver crisp decision briefs to executives.
  • You embrace the basic "blocking and tackling" of product management-keeping backlogs tight, roadmaps transparent, and requirements rigorous-while never losing sight of the broader market trends and user experience.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity, thrive in high-autonomy startup environments, and build consensus through collaboration and data.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

Terradepth is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value different backgrounds and perspectives and are committed to maintaining a workplace in which qualified individuals can contribute, grow, and succeed.
