Procurement technical oversight includes executing or overseeing development of technical bid evaluations for procurements in the Bid/Evaluate/Award (BEA) cycle, review of vendor submittals under our department’s purview, and supporting integration of equipment design inputs to the engineering and system design work being performed by TerraPower or TerraPower design partners.\nThe successful candidate will provide technical and administrative design support and oversight for a wide range of procurements and design integration, including heat transfer / energy storage, power cycle and ancillary systems. Support and oversight includes cross functional and inter-disciplinary integration with electrical, I&C, and structural, and review of deliverables for technical accuracy. The system integration engineer will work as part of a high performing team of engineers.\nResponsibilities\nProvides integration and oversight to geographically diverse team members to support procurements and design integration of equipment design inputs.\nWorks with TerraPower’s supply chain and procurement team to support procurement BEA cycle and integrated review of supplier technical submittals.\nWorks closely with TerraPower partners or Architect/Engineer firm(s) to coordinate equipment design inputs to system and physical design deliverables (e.g, P&IDs, plant 3D model, civils/structural calculations, etc.).\nCoordinates technical reviews and inputs with other TerraPower stakeholders and design disciplines.\nKey Qualifications and Skills\nThe successful candidate will display leadership skills by proactively driving cross functional design collaboration and integration of equipment design inputs across multiple disciplines and systems.\nCandidate shall have in minimum a BS degree in mechanical or chemical engineering. Other engineering disciplines will be considered provided candidate demonstrates a history of multi-discipline engineering integration across electrical, mechanical, and structural disciplines.\nApproximately 10-20 years of relevant design experience in nuclear power plant or commercial power plant design or modifications or adjacent process industries (oil and gas, refining, chemicals), with emphasis on equipment design and system/physical design integration.\nThe candidate must be team oriented, and able to work effectively with geographically distributed and possibly international design team members.\nCandidate should have broad based technical and engineering skills and experience leading an integrated cross functional design team.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills and ability to convey critical design integration information to senior management, the engineering team, customers etc.\nAbility to work in a first of a kind environment that require the ability to use good engineering judgement and identify needed design progress to achieve key project objectives.\nExperience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.\nThe successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.\nThis position is subject to qualification requirements in accordance with ANSI/ANS 3.1.
