Candidates must have extensive experience in equipment design. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will report to the Reactor Enclosure System Manager. The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will work as part of a high functioning team of engineers and scientists focused on developing the design of next generation advanced nuclear reactors.\nResponsibilities\nDesign of reactor structures and components from requirements through final design.\nCoordinate inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions.\nPerform scoping analysis and calculations for design options.\nInterface with the team’s engineering analysis activities.\nTechnically manage supplier activities.\nPresent equipment and components design results for design reviews.\nAssess technical merit of solutions provided by team members, including leading design reviews.\nInterface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring.\nSupport continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.\nRequired Qualifications and Skills \nEducation: B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred\nMinimum of eight years of equipment / component design experience; relevant M.S. degree credited as two years of experience.\nWorking experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III.\nExperience writing design specifications.\nExperience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).\nExperience in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial mechanical stress analysis modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS.\nExcellent writing and communication skills.\nStrong analytical/problem solving skills, creative thinker.\nAbility to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems.\nAbility to work on multiple tasks concurrently during a given work week.\nFamiliarity with CAD, SolidWorks preferred.\nThe successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.\nThis position is subject to qualification requirements in accordance with ANSI/ANS 3.1.
